I have noticed, than when in the SRV and you recall your ship, the SRV hanger is open, before the ship reaches the ground, and this made me think. What if we could drop the SRV from a hovering ship. Granted, dangerous maneuvers would alike punish the commander by risking their SRV, but safe, low altitude hovering would be relatively safe, saving the need to search for a landing spot, then sending your ship up on its way, while still requiring the ship to be landed to board your ship once more.
The game can already can do the reverse, when it cannot find a suitable landingspot when you recall your ship within a certain distance, the ship will hover above ground and let you board it that way... the tricky part is that this often means rough terrain, so it can take some time manoeuvre to get the board option,
