DSS heatmap

Can anyone tell me how to see if the different filters actually work? Pressing Q/E doesn’t change anything and there is no visible indication what mode I‘m in when VSS is opened. The entire planet is just blue 🙄

I'm looking around on a moon for a supposed "geological" site, the entire moon apart from some peaks is completely blue in all three filters. What's the gameplay loop for this now? Fly slowly over the object for who knows how long until randomly stumbling across something? How low do I have to be? How far away can they be seen? I've been cruising around for 15 minutes at 1000 m and seen nothing at all.

I dunno. I can't find a bloody thing. Driving around in the SRV after landing I found scattered chunks of all varieties from needle crystals to piceous cobble. Every single one, 14 times in a row, dropped iron.

Is there any aspect of this thing NOT bugged to the point of being near-broken at this point?

so ... does this mean i can find plants anywhere here where it is "blue"?!
i realy dont get this :<

They do

Just some things are found in a lot of places

Bacteria for instance seems to be in most places just as the Tussock Grass

Geologic (3) Planets are the best test to see the different results.

Once you have the Ahha moment, it is fairly good for finding what you are looking for.

could i bother you to post this with screenshots? im looking for this plant on that planet now for over 2 hours without seeing anything but stones :<

No they dont. At least not for everyone.

I have just been to a planet with nothing but 2 geological signals (no bio). Everything is blue in all filters, altough there shouldn't be anything except for two geo sites.

Maybe the geo sites are the only non-blue things, but then they are apparently tiny. Screenshots would be nice^^

The number of signals is now the number of different types of site. So there are 2 types of geo feature, and many, many of each strewn thrughout the blue areas (nominally).

As you pic an area I like turn off analysis mode to get a visual id on the location for Glide

The areas are usually littered with what shows up and you can get clusters of different types near each other, though I find bacteria hard to find as I have no Artemis Suit

This was picking a Concha area on the heat map that overlapped with Tussock grass found nearby

Tied to use the Vanity camera to get both in but to fly up far enough to get both in shot they both rendered out

Note Biological (3) Does NOT mean there are three SITES

It means there are three TYPES

Biological (1) means one TYPE which is usually bacteria which is really easy to miss

I have only found one as it is often a colour similar to the ground and flat

Suits may have scanners to help with this

Similarly

Geological (2) and Geological (3) refer to the TYPES not SITES and they will be scattered in the zone and different types can be found near each other if the heat maps overlap

Here Fumaroles and Geysers

Hope this helps

Are geologicals easy to spot from the air like biologicals, or did you needed the srv wave scanner to find them?

Render distance will be the main answer there

Anything that sticks out of the surface you can spot, the vents if inactive are too similar to normal rock for my eyes

Geos seem to be less clusters and more spread about then Bios

Haven't come across a Geo Cluster like the old PoI

Ok if thats true then the "everything including crystal needles just dropping iron 100% of the time" problem cannot be solved by going to the "right" geo site, because there are no special sites for that anymore... has anyone picked up a high grade raw material since odyssey?
