DTS audio in the Rift?

With the announcement of the new DTS Headphone X functionality in the latest game update, I'm wondering how this applies to the Rift?

Are the Rift built-in headphones able to take advantage of that?

Wondering also if anyone uses different headphones with their Rift? I actually think the Rift on-ear phones sound pretty good, but always on the lookout for improvement :)

I've read several time that the DTS stuff works for any headphones so I don't see that the Rift experience should be any different. Haven't tried it in the Rift yet but will be doing so first thing tomorrow. And yes, I think the builtin Rift headphones are excellent, surprisingly good actually!

Without knowing about the new sound implementation, I noticed right away that something has changed. It sounds better now (CV1).

G'day all,
I am not getting any sound out of my headsets.
Oculus Rift CV1. Suggestions of setting to check please.

I would also like to thank FD for all they have done with VR programming as once again the game has become most immersive.

By the way were you aware that pressing the F12 key will put you in the pilots set correctly.
Let me explain, I received my Oculus Touch and set up the sensors to have my game space, but then when I sat at my desk and opened ED, I was was sitting above and behind the pilot in the seat and looking about 20 Deg to the side.

It wasn't able to correct this until I heard on a Utube vid that this could be corrected by pressing F12. Bloody wonderful.

You need to change your default audio playback device. In Windows 10 it's really easy, you just click on the speaker icon in the system tray, clikc the drop-down and then pick "Headphones (Rift Audio)". Otherwise you right click the speaker, pick playback devices, click on "headphones (Rift Audio)" and then set that as default.

I use separate headphones (not DTS Headphone X ones) and enabling that option made the sound in the game much better. It also pleased my Buttkicker, the subout channel appears to get much more bass using that option and picks up little effects it never did before on that channel. I'm very impressed.
