Distant Worlds II Event [DW2] Distant Worlds 2: Discovery Submissions

Canada. But it said it was Monday when it was Wednesday, so I don't think that's it. ;)

Even stranger - it STILL says its Monday on my log, the next day. Monday the 17th and later Monday the 18th!

Thanks. One last hiccup seems to be the images sometimes getting posted before a log entry update. For example, I enter a system, take a picture, then write a log, the photo comes before the data update listing my new location (making it seem like it's from the last system. Presumably this is because screen capture isn't tied to the data fetch request as the log. If there isn't an easy way to do so you might want to recommend people post a log entry before any screen captures?

Here's an example of the issue there. The image was taken after I'd docked at Omega Mining Operation, yet it's listed before the entry change.

I'd also changed the Windows Scaling Setting to match my Desktop (150%) and it's still coming out both tiny and just a quarter of the image.

Discovered Traikoa GR-N e6-31 which has 63 bodies, 17 have Biological life of multiple instances per body (around 3-5 instances per body) all of which are Anemones. From 1 to 10 D they are all Blattinus Bioluminescent Anemones and from 11 E A to 15 I A they are Luteus Anemones.
When I got to 10 A however I only started scanning 1 or 2 instances of the biology as it was a bit repetitious and I was getting hungry.
Also there is even more Geology, could spend days looking.

Don't know if this is the right place to put it seeing as this is a bit of an old discovery of mine but oh well. In the Traikoa MV-Y D42 system the 3rd planet, sharing orbit with a class 3 gas giant is a high metal content world with no atmosphere. This planet is capable of planetary landings with a radius of 6,894 KM and a gravity of 1.31Gs it is by all accounts quite ordinary at first glance. What makes this and unusual find is that it is also listed as a Terraforming Candidate.
Well, it's in the DW2 area, so why not? You might as well claim that you've found it just now, especially with the time of your screenshot.

In any case, landable HMCPTCs are uncommon, but not all that much so. The Forge is generous with terraforming candidates, and an atmosphere is not required. What are very rare and noteworthy in themselves are Metal Rich terraformables: only a dozen or so of those have been found so far.

Too bad I discovered this the Thurs before DW2 started while I was enroute back to Colonia to get my good exploration ship to use for DW2 and get as close to the bubble before the official start on Sunday. Otherwise I'd have submitted it:

Hi guys,

I've just found some nitrogen magma geysirs (yeah, didn't know they were a thing either) about 600 ly out of WP 2. According to the Codex, such geysirs have been discovered before, but it might be interesting for the geology gals and guys in the expedition anyway:

Stumbled upon an interesting system about 12 jumps from WP2

Pyramoe HX-A d1-40

Keep your heat sinks ready! I arrived already inside the scooping zone, and had to use a sink and took some module damage before getting away.

System has 5 stars. The first 4 within 22 Ls of each other and the fifth 230 Ls away. Landing on Pyramoe HX-A d1-40 E 1 you can get pictures with the cluster of 4 stars on the horizon. (Though the shadows look wrong because of the 5th star overhead.

If you visit in the right time of the planets orbit (1.1 days) it might be possible to get all five stars in the shot.

Not a phenomena but I did stumble across an tidally-locked airless moon with a crater so large that, not only does it have several craters inside it, it also retains some of what was presumably once the moon's atmosphere. This is my first time encountering one of these craters filled with atmosphere so I'm not sure how common they are.

Location: Pyramoe PU-V C3-5 4 A, 674LY from WP2

The crater rim extends approximately 13km above the crater floor itself, but the actual deepest point of the crater is in one of the smaller craters, and is 20km below the main crater rim where you can get a pretty cool view of the moon's parent body (which it completes a full orbit of every 1.1 days) shrouded in mist.

Reminds me of Drake's Ridge (Waypoint 5) on DW1.

The haunted WP! [alien][knocked out][woah]

Nice find!

Loads of nice finds and new minor discoveries. I need to take the time to go through all this after the CG :) Still waiting for the new big perception changing find, but it's early days :D

I found an undiscovered Earth Like World 500 LY from WP2

Very happy with this find. Also in this system there is 1x Gas Giant with water based life + 1x Gas Giant with ammonia based life + 1x Terraformable WW

Found 220ly out of Omega. A very fast orbiting Rock body (took me a few tries to reach orbit)
It's almost touching the rings!
You can make out individual rocks in the rings system from the planet surface and see the motion. Beautiful.

I want to bring the group's attention to Omega Sector DM-M B7-16

A couple of lagrange clouds and purpureum crystals had been recorded before my visit, but on inspection, the system is teeming with life of all kinds.

The planets host bark mounds, whilst the lagrange clouds are home to various types of metallic crystals, spheres and albulum gourd molluscs.

I didn't have time to inspect each and every point of interest, nor to keep pressing on into the lagrange clouds, but there may even be more that I didn't observe.

I would like to report an "unreachable" NOTABLE STELLAR PHENOMENA. You can find it at Omega Sector NS-U C2-41.

This one is literally inside a giant, and if you try to approach you will force drop because of TOO CLOSE to giant Omega Sector NS-U C2-41 E 4.

Although you are forced to drop to normal space, it is still possible to see it because if you keep for about 15 hours... well I didn't try that.

Omega Sector GC-U b3-4 is only 67.65ly away from Omega Mining and has 3 'Noteable Stellar Phenomena' which contain:

  1. Albulus Gourd Molluscs
  2. Albulus Gourd Molluscs & Rubeum Metallic Crystals
  3. Flavum Metallic Crystals & Solid Mineral Spheres in a Croceum Lagrange Cloud
