Distant Worlds II Event [DW2] Distant Worlds 2: Discovery Submissions

I have noticed that there are areas of the galaxy in which there are no POIs marked on the EDSM map. For the return journey I'm maturing the crazy idea to make a long detour to suggest in those areas at least a couple of landmarks

By the way: One of the ways I personally find interesting things is to start looking at the Galmap for unusual features. This works with named systems, but usually closer to the bubble. Then you check EDSM to see if anyone's been there.

It's not guaranteed, but I've found a lot of interesting things that way.

I seem to find a lot of these around the Conflux :) I posted one here as it's ringed and the gas giant is very close leading to a spectacular view, but i found also 2 others recently by going to WP4 through my usual zigzag pattern..

These are surprisingly rare. If you find any, please do submit.

Not super rare, but rare enough to me, that I found this interesting last night. Only 4 bodies, with a sole neutron star, but also an ELW. I don't usually find ELWs with neutron stars unless it's around a secondary star.

Probably not suitable as an actual submission, but I thought I'd share.

An ELW around a NEUTRON star would qualify as a major discovery to me. Good find! Make sure you get that first discovered tag ASAP.

Walk - Don't Walk

Name: Walk - Don't Walk

Game map search ref: PRU AESCS RW-N C6-15 2

Description: A red, ringed class IV gas giant. I don't know if it's common but when positioning this planet between yourself and the K-class star, it appears to shift to a green colouration, mimicking a pedestrian traffic light.
The 6th planet in the system is a water giant, too. The system is only 390 LY from the Conflux Delta Site.

new find, mapped and all, daylight pic failing to upload(can see in DW xbox club) two ringed planets (3 MRB AND 4 HMC)with these in system
rubeum bioluminescent anemone. 3 sites in all

HA,FINALLY

These *are* quite rare, and I think our team would discuss the merits of each to see if it is otherwise unique enough.

For reference, one that certainly qualified was "Erik's World": A Neutron star w/ ringed ELW, also with a black hole. That was likely my best find ever.

DOUBLE POSTT

I'm sorry to break it to you, but AeBe Herbigs are quite common.

Also, please do not just submit screen shots. A proper submission needs:

1) A name for your submission
2) A system name or nearest system
3) A description of why you think it's interesting

I have found a couple of these earlier. I'll look through my archives when I get home from work and see if I can dig up the locations, and take screenshots of the system views.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty awesomely rare find, with rings and black hole!

I could certainly make a full submission for mine. I just wasn't sure it was truly interesting enough since it only has that one notable feature, and as far as I can tell there's about 1600 (*) of these in the EDSM data. (one of the dangers of maintaining a local copy of the entire database is that it quickly deflates you after thinking you've found something unique). :)

* EDIT: 1600+ where an ELW is in a system with a solitary neutron star, such that the NS shares the name of the system (no appended 'A', no secondary main stars, etc).

Here's one ELW around a neutron star I found back in 2015.

1: Name possibility: Deuteros (after deuterium, also known as heavy water, used in ancient high-radiation reactors)
2: System name: Slulee YM-H D11-47
3: Description: Earth-like world around a neutron star, 1 terraformable waterworld moon, 2 terraformable HMCs. Distance is 10,291.97 LY from Sol. Also a L-class secondary star. While ELWs around neutron stars are rare, they aren't completely unheard of. This system has a high number of terraformable planets for a neutron star system, including a waterworld. The sharp glare from the neutron star casts everything in stark relief and the radiation output must be capable of creating a significant amount of mutation for any life found on the waterworld or the Earth-like world.
