Elite / Frontier E7 - Milk us please

Hmmmm... if now Elite IV would be released, and as a MMO, I'm not sure I would be interested in the game. I've played a few MMO's, and I like the social aspect of it, but there are other parts that I don't like. As I'm more casual player nowadays, I'm sure i couldn't be bothered with some sort of "group" or "fleet" quests to go up in ranks or get better equipment or ships. Another aspect that I don't like is to queue up for a mission and wait around for someone else to finish it first... don't have the patience for it. I wouldn't look forward to be mining somewhere either and then be blast away by a 14-year old kid playing a pirate, I'm old and wouldn't stand a chance, hehe. And then I want to be the only Jameson in space :). Of course all this could be solved (maybe not being the only Jameson), and the game turns out great but I would hope that the game would be single player with online content for those who wish for it.

Got that link wrong here the full blog didn’t notice the source at the bottom.

Can’t say Iam too bothered by product placement as long it not too in your face and they could only use it in games set modern era. Would look too out place in a fantasy world.

Building a game over time, starting with the minimal playable is perhaps another way of doing this - as already happens online in the 'social' space."

Isn’t that what minecraft did, maybe frontier should do that after all they have a game engine and old ip doing nothing.

Indeed! Welcome to the "Dangerous club" Turwhitt :)

Yay, so I'm actually "Dangerous" in real life too now? Do i get a t-shirt or a badge or something? It'd certainly make the local rat-boys think twice about mugging me on the way home.

I believe there are no depths to which advertisers will not stoop. Although you may not see a big gold arches sign in "Total Fantasy - Dark Ages" you may well see a sign with "Olde McDonald's Fantasy Fries" and a strangely reminiscent stylised Latin "M".

No idea. I'm only Dangerous when I'm doing some DIY

I remember having this discussion years ago. Is there any reason to expect the likes of McDonalds and Coca-Cola won't be around in the year 3200? ;)

Really? I will look into this because I uploaded them :S

EDIT: Just downloaded it and it runs fine. What is it doing or not doing on your PC?

All those problems can be solved and don't have to be an issue. Having many missions of different difficulties, so a single player doesn't need a fleet to play, making available high rank equipment on the market for a high price, not having a mission queue system (space is large enough for everyone to run missions at any time), and I don't see why safe mining can not be made possible (all you need is NPC police presence)...

Poacher Turned Greenkeeper

Actually, I wouldn't mind "jumping the fence" for a while and chasing naughty people in a police Viper. Would make a change from my previous "activities" while playing Frontier  It would have to have flashing lights and a siren though :p

LOL yeah a 100 megawatt flashing light!

And here's me thinking that girls didn't like big guns!
Maybe they should give us mass drivers too...

Ordinary (at least for me) no, a 5MW pulse laser is more than enough, but if you have a lot of flies to swat, sometimes it's nice to have a really big fly swatter! Especially so if your on an anti-greifer patrol :D
