Earthlike vs Water World

I can't for the life of me figure out why water worlds always look like what I thought an earthlike should, and vice versa.

See here my latest finds on my trip to the core, both of them being water worlds.

They look rather green. Rather full of life and land.

Earthlike, on the other hand, mostly looks like a water orb.

Is there a reason for this, or have I misunderstood the meaning of "water"?

I might be wrong, but I think "water world" means in general a world with liquid water, while "Earth like" matches Earth even closer, as in having a more similar atmospheric composition, climate, etc. A water world for instance might have an atmosphere unbreathable for humans (e.g. without oxygen).
