Newcomer / Intro Easy to move my freagle to another station?

Mine is docked in a completely inconvenient station far away from the main star and I'd like to move it somewhere easier to get to. I figure it's probably easy to switch to it, dock at a more convenient station with shipyard, then switch back to my sidewinder. Haven't tried it yet though.

Is that all I need to do? Will it still be free if I can do it?

Sadly at the moment you can only switch ships in person, so you would always have to leave one at the inconvenient station.

There has been a lot of talk and requests for some sort of ship delivery mechanism so you can have a ship brought to you but it's not in game (not even sure if it's planned).

The best you could do just now is sell the eagle and then buy another (you will have to make some money to make up the difference) when you find a better base.

Someone mentioned once that the current mechanic for changing ships is somewhat like playing Towers of Hanoi with only two pegs. We definitely need a way to shuttle between systems or have a valet service in place.
I'm fairly certain it's going to be added in the future.

Is there a way to do it with three ships maybe? Buy a sidewinder at station you want to dock freagle, bring it to freagle's current station, move freagle to desired station, sell sidewinder?

yup, buy a spare sidey and use it to travel to the station your eagle is docked at then sell it and swap to the fregal.

i use this method to move my ships around, sometimes over 200 Ly. although when going that far you need to upgrade the FSD and add a fuel scoop.
