ECM 2019 - Elite Community Meet. Manchester Renaissance Hotel, 20th April

Well this is shaping up to be lots of fun. I'll be down on the Friday to help set up again, staying nearby through to the Sunday morning for the farewell tears. Can't wait to see everyone again, hope there's time to properly catch up this meet.

Sent an e-mail out to the bookers for the event today with a few questions - just to check any allergies/intolerances, let people know that if they haven't booked dinner they still can add it to their booking if they want, see if anyone's forgotten to tell us about any board games or computers they are bringing (we've got a little space on the LAN left as well as a little bit of retro corner) and of course to give an update on the schedule for the day! Check your spam folders just in case ;-)

And we have now passed 160 commanders booked. Sizing up to be the largest ECM so far and despite it being Easter weekend, everyone is booking still.

Raffle prizes being donated thick and fast, PAT testing of computers now sorted, menu being finalised, yet MORE computers confirmed for the retro area and main sections.....

We will be cutting tickets off once we hit 170 to ensure we don't get overcrowded so if you have been leaving it to the last minute to book, that minute is now!

We have had confirmation that BOTH of the wonderful charities that we support will be there in person.
Baz from SpecialEffect will be bringing a demonstration rig of some of the equipment they use to bring the joy of gaming to people who would otherwise struggle...

and breaking news...

Hearing Dogs UK and their wonderful training and volunteer team are bringing a detachment of Trainee Momus Bog Spaniels (ok, they're puppies) to the event to meet everyone and learn to deal with crowds etc! Welcome aboard to Eric, Connie, Skye, Marvin, Zeta & Lexie - it will be our absolute honour to meet the trainee team and see them on their path to bringing the joy and help that Alvin (the faction leader of the Hutton Orbital Truckers) has brought to Snos over the last few years.

The pups will be "on duty" as assistance dogs in training, so the usual rules apply: No fuss for the dogs without permission from their partner, remember, always talk to the partner first and not their 4 legged companion and of course - no sneaky snacks allowed for them whilst they're working - food is used in their training and it would harm their training (and their waistlines).

Is anyone thinking about doing one of these across the pond, in the US?
ECM, Lavecon and Fantasticon are all fan-created events. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can run a similar event. The people who run ECM would be delighted to provide advice. There's already a fairly regular pizza-meet near Portland, Oregon. If it gets enough support, it may develop into something bigger. There have also been small informal meets in Texas and near Sydney, Australia.

Well... with real life getting in the way and such, I forgot to book a ticket.. So have just done it now hoping there is still one left. And bingo... Just had e-mail with ticket :) I can now relax...

Tin Man games have released Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown TODAY for PSVR and we're very lucky to have a preview copy coming along to the event, as well as one in the raffle. Also - ED: Battlecards is now "back on" and unshackled from Kickstarter and any trollish copyright behaviour - we'll have at least two copies of the preview version of the game available to play and Jon and Oliver will be there in person demoing it and taking pre-orders!

Finally - in the recent William Shatner studio session with HCS Voice Packs, the man himself on top of recording an audio piece for the Truckers up Teide charity volcano bike and hike, also signed a couple of rare photographs for us to put into the raffle. Top chap (and the team at HCS aren't too shabby, either!)
