Botting is bad, but so is PP, so meh.
Normally, they would mysteriously disappear from the instance if they were scanned (by NPC or Player) or if interdicted.
And we didn't want to make it too obvious we were 'on to them', for fear it would drive them to Solo where we could not document their activities.
Ahh OK - that makes more "sense". Presumeably though they could act in a beneficial manner too? -- But yeah, doing it in open is probably just for the trolling...They were not boosting Mahon PowerPlay; they were actively working against it by attempting to force a PowerPlay 'loss-making' system on to Mahon. ...
basically naming and shaming them - well the bots anyway - will force them into Solo or PG anyway?
Well, we've got the evidence now!
The evidence was submitted to FDev in September. (It says at the start of the video that people here have been watching. Instructions to find that are on Page 9 of this thread.)Did you submit said evidence to FD or just jump on the forums with it?

The person who made the video and logged the ticket is trying to post here, but is not a regular poster and their first message is held awaiting moderation. I believe it was along the lines of 'we cannot comment on the outcome'.What did they answer ?

I guess I can formally say "Wheeeee!", and just buzz around in the game now, knowing nothing matters.
Neither the forum, or Frontier, is going to change it's ways.
Guys.. need to stand back a little..
Is there any solid proof that the BGS or anything else was manipulated by this video? I haven't seen any..
Is there any solid proof that there was no player at the controls of the ships in the video?
You need solid proof before you can simply ban a player. 'We believe' is not enough.
I would agree it 'looks like' automation, especially the simply drive-trhu of the watching player.. But.. 'looks like' is not enough. If you got an email saying Hi CMDR, 'it looks like you were cheating' we've banned your account. You'd be ok with this?
Yep, I was involved in the creation of multiple programs for FS using MS provided API and IPV DLL, Built an entire server based Cockpit, with multiple Displays all linked to the one sim. I'm ignorant alright.
I don't ever remember posting anything about building a bot. I could certainly do it, and without the log files too. But I haven't.
I started this morning, and had a webserver coded and running by lunchtime, feeding information from the logs to a separate display. Tomorrow, I'll add the GPS positioning advice to that display. That the player can heed or ignore. How that can be considered a 'bot' is beyond me, but hey, you're the expert.
I'm just plain ignorant.
I didn't say you were ignorant, I literally quoted a previous post by you, where you were calling someone else ignorant, there were quotes round it. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=6519026&viewfull=1#post6519026
You said : "I'm currently working on a planetary lander and POI marker system with auto pilot. " https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-s-Wet-Dream?p=6517306&viewfull=1#post6517306
Again, I didn't say you were ignorant.
Players are never going to have access to information that would definitively prove that the players in the videos are bots, but luckily players also are not the ones doing the banning. FDev should have access to all the data and be able to take appropriate action to what they see.
From the video, it certainly looks like these players are using bots and the video's creator seems to have monitored them extensively performing the same style of station departure and seen the effects on the BGS/PP in that system. It worries me that after they reported the issue, the bots allegedly disappeared for a month and then reappeared with twice the numbers.
Obviously FDev would never reveal this to the playerbase but I sincerely hope they continue to monitor and periodically check up on any account on the same IP address as a known (and previously infracted) cheater. Humans don't tend to change that much, if they did it once, they'll likely try to find a way to do it again.
