I had the same thoughts when waiting for my DK2. Maybe im easy to impress and thats all. People have different quality standards and all that but I was pleasantly surprised to see it run " pretty smooth" on my system. I see the "judders" here and there but its not as bad as I had read on various forums.
If your rig is that in your sig, then have no worry it'll run great. If you overclock it you might even get away with DSR+low/med settings.
so... gamma is running great so far VR-wise. I had no judder for about 2 hours of play, then while I was in starport services in (I forget where) it all went to crap. Not sure what happened - gpu overheated or network went wonky? Anyway it was fine again after quitting and restarting awhile later.
Open space seems to have more depth since 3.91 and just looks great. Later, I was buzzing around in a dense asteroid ring which always produced horrible judder before, but it was beautiful and judder free.
sorry does not compute.
there is always a need to oc ..
Here's another will my rig run . . .
I had a DK1 and was running elite with an i7930 680gtx and a i73930k 680gtx. I couldn't get it consistently playable (text unreadable and stuttering on low or high settings).
My new home rig that I'd mainly play on is an i5 4760k and a gtx970. If I got a dk2 would I find the game to be playable on this new rig?
I spend about 300+ hours in the dk1 so I'm well versed on vr but I was planning on waiting for cv1 until I got an offer on a cheap dk2.
Just got my DK2 today.
Weirdly, my right eye view is all honked up in ED. It's dark, the textures look more dirty than anything else - if I put my Nerd Hat on, I think it looks like the right eye's getting textured with irradiance cache data instead of the proper texture maps. Or something. Either way, it's crazy.
No matter what I do, which god I plead to or which sacrifices I make, I *cannot* get the tracking camera to turn on. It's firmly in USB2, the cables are all well connected - Windows sees it just fine, and I've told Windows that it can't turn the power off to it... it just Will Not Activate. No, I'm not using a Logitech mouse, either. This is for anything Rift-related, not a direct ED issue.
That said, I promptly bought a Sidey (my Transit Van's got no visibility), and undocked and HOLY CATS I'M IN A SPACESHIP. If I can just fix the right-eye-wierdness, then I'll be as happy as the QA guy at a brothel.
Its odd but my system seems to run better with the DK2 then it does with my monitor and i run both of them maxed out. The only thing that annoys me and maybe iam just not ust to it yet but the SDE, i even put some plastic bags under the lenses and it helped alot.
STILL struggling with this setup? I have smooth play BUT IT IS sooooo blurry.
yes blur is off, eye set up is correct, in extended screen, blurr blurr......is it something to do with what AA setting I have on??
it's become a game killer..
cos I cant dock .......I cant judge the docking entrance clearly,If I struggle in a sidey .. i'll have no chance in my old laycon!...
