ED.... In this "1st game" we want to focus on....

I think it's like Highlander and the Matrix. In my version of the universe they only made one film. There have been no spin-offs to EVE.

I can totally agree with your stance on the films mentioned, but I'll reserve judgement on Valkyrie at least as the few seconds of gameplay in the announcement trailer look damned good to me! :p

I think Eve Valkrie will interest nomal Eve players more than Dust as will be able to play on the PC at least these that are intrested in the Oculas Rift. Also it has been announced that Eve Valkrie is the first game that will launch with the Rift.

On another note, seems that a vidio streaming company called Ocula has sued Oculas over the name, hope this does not cause more delay to the release date for the Rift.

Can't believe I forgot about those! :D

Though that said, they aren't exactly marketed to the same audience as Eve Online.

A spin off doesn't necessarily need to. Halo, for instance, has Halo Wars and Spartan Assault. One is an RTS while the other is a top-down twin-stick shooter.

Star Craft was, at one time, slated to have a third-person shooter spin-off in the form of Ghost.

My concern is how these future expansions will effect the player base as a whole, specifically whether it will split the player base up based on those who bought the expansion and those who didn't. Obviously to some degree this will have to happen, for example those who don't buy the PL expansion won't be able to land on planets, but I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to still fly in the same instance of space as those who do have the PL expansion, they just won't be able to follow their friends to the BBQ on Mars.

As long as they don't simply keep people with different expansions apart completely I'm happy.
