Ed won't start in Vive

Hej

So, I've bought the HTC Vive and also Ed. Not through steam though, but code was redeemed and game was downloaded through Ed site.

I launch the launcher and then the 64-bit version of ED, SteamVR is running, everything is green there. And the game only pops up on my monitor. In the vive only the "Vive home" showing.

I can play the game through the monitor. I'm using Windows 10.

What is going wrong? How am I supposed to start it?

Try to launch the game from within Steam, not from the ED launcher itself. If you launch ED by right clicking on your Steam icon in the system tray, then selecting it from your recently played/shortcuts it'll ask you if you want to launch it in a few modes, one of them will be VR. The FD/ED launcher will still pop up on your desktop but you don't need to hit the play button, Steam does it for you


I get the exact result you're getting when I launch ED in 2D mode, so I can take a screenshot, and I just shut down SteamVR

You went into graphics options and set :

3D to HMD?

Probably also best to set quality to "VR Low" and go from there to start.

You shouldn't *need* to launch through Steam, I never do. It is one option though.

Well next thing...

If you want to use both monitor and a VR setup you will want to switch between them.

You can then setup two different configs, one all maxed out for on a monitor and another with quality dialled back for VR.


I mean ED really is spectacular in VR, the best VR experience out there right now IMHO. But there are times when you doing less intense stuff like say exploring, and so want to have the telly on. It is nice to have a the monitor option available.
