Release EDDI the Echo

Hi all,

I started using EDDI recently. But when it speaks, there is a nasty echo so it is repeating itself with a sub-second delay. Any takers on solving this issue?

Thanks for any tips.

Eddi echo seconded

I also hear an EDDI echo every so often. I also have discovered that unlike everything else on my machine my mates in mumble hear EDDI when he talks. Nothing else, just EDDI.

I thought maybe the integration with Voice Attack caused the problem, perhaps. So that both programs fire off the speech. But something is funny with EDDI anyway. I cannot uncheck certain responses in the tab, the check boxes are ghosted.

I wonder if this utility is of any use at all except for saying mostly useless things that, e.g. in hyperspace can hardly be heard.

Dunno exactly what you did, but when you're running EDDI in combination with VA, don't start the EDDI executable seperately. When you want to alter the config, there's a VA command 'configure EDDI'. If it's about the voice itself, the level of echo can be customized in there.

Some scripts in the speech responder tab cannot be unchecked (but edited) bc they don't fire on journal event but are in fact like subroutines run by other scripts.

I'd recommend these threads for digging deeper into it:

edit: to be able to edit any speech responder at all you'd first have to make your own 'personality'.
