Release EDDI - Windows app for immersion and more

Tried using the beta. Unfortunately, after 2 days, still no auto-update. :(
I'm also having this issue.
Was having some minor problems with 2.3.0-b8 so I rolled back to the release version, aaand now I can't update back to the beta [noob]

edit: getting "EDDI:CheckUpgrade [W] Failed to contact update server" in the logs.

Also, a quick question - I'm using EDDI as a Voice Attack plugin, and I'm trying to replicate some of the scripts present in the speech responder, specifically the "Docking Granted" event.
The responder script manages to grab the model of station (Coriolis, Orbis, etc.) from the context, but I can't find any variable accessible to Voice Attack that could provide that information.
Am I missing something obvious?

Has anybody else had a problem with using the "What use is *material*" "Where can i find *Material*"script?

When I ask "What use is" for any material it says it "material not used for any blue prints"

Is it calling something server-side and the server is down atm?
Using the latest version 2.3.0-b8

Confirmed, same here.

As far as I'm aware, EDDI cannot send an "object" (containing multiple variables) to VoiceAttack... VoiceAttack doesn't support them. You can get around this by using the SetState function in EDDI to pull variables from the object & send them to Voice Attack.

Do we have server issues? I noticed that I have the same problem again as after the Elite 2.3.10 patch, where EDDI is functional with everything user-facing, but the faction and market data is not being sent to EDDN for use in EDDB and Inara (where for both there are no updates of systems I visited). Applies to play sessions I did between 10.07.2017 3:00pm and 11.07.2017 6:00am UTC.

First of all, a big THANK YOU for this tool. It seems that 2.3(.10) broke some functionality. I am trying to connect it to EDSM but seems EDSM is not getting the updates (the Text-to-Speech works).
I understand that the problem can be on EDSM side, just wanted to let you know, and/or hopefully someone here can help me make it work.

jgm,

Do the Journal MassModuleStore, ModuleBuy, ModuleRetrieve, ModuleSell, ModuleStore, and ModuleSwap events update the ship and compartment objects?

It's not clear in the documentation.

jgm,

From my testing, I answered my own question... they do not.

Right now, the only way to get up-to-date on compartment objects is either log out and back in, or do a ship swap.

Admittedly, it's a first world problem, but having MassModuleStore, ModuleBuy, ModuleRetrieve, ModuleSell, ModuleStore, and ModuleSwap events which update the ship compartment object would be sweet.

Good evening cmdrs! Just a quick question, is the function

{F("Honorific")} {cmdr.name}.

Does not work atm? I'm currently ranks "ensign" and "marquis" for the factions but eddi keeps referring me as "my lord" all the time! Kinda fell rly awkward about it so i deleted it... How can i make eddi refer to my proper rank call signs? Thanks!

EDDI will only refer to you as "Ensign" or whatever rank you hold when you are in Federation Space. By the same token EDDI will only refer to you as Lord or whatever other Empire honorific you hold when you are in Empire space. Absent either one of those, it will refer to you as Cmdr. X (X being whatever your character's name is).

Could you raise an issue for this on GitHub? When JGM is ready to publish a new revision of EDDI, that's where he'll be most likely to see the request. https://github.com/cmdrmcdonald/EliteDangerousDataProvider/issues

It occurred to me, but I don't see him responding to outstanding 'issues' there, so I was unsure about which would be the most effective medium... I will do so.

I assume JGM is just extremely busy IRL atm. Well, at least i hope it's nothing more serious, been quite a time since last update. Would love to hear (read) from him again regarding future development...

Okay KellyR! Thank you for the clarification! I'm learning to code using eddi atm! Any new info is gladly accepted!

ok, but what about i call the play argument at the end, does this work out having text and the play argument there after?

Has anyone got the Play command to work? I've been messing about with it for hours but it just keeps reading out the play command. I've completely removed any script and only had the play line with the \\ to where the .wav is but it still just reads the text instead of playing the sound bite

Very possibly. I've poked jgm on Discord to request he look into that.

Jimi,

Here's the exception from your log:
Code:
2017-07-01T20:37:31 EDDI:findMonitors
[E] Failed to load monitor: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --->
System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException: [U][B]Failed to find the saved games directory.[/B][/U]

It looks like your saved games folder (and/or the Frontier Developments folder containing the journal files from Elite) is not where EDDI expects it to be. You should have a folder structure that looks like this and that contains your journal files:

Users\USERID\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\

Please check and see if that folder exists or has been moved to a different location on your local system?

Thanks Tkael, this was the solution. I renew this directory and it works. Gracias. :)

Has a non beta version of 2.3 been released? I just opened EDDI and got a notification of a mandatory upgrade. Are there version notes?

Yes, appears 2.3.0 is released but I'm having a hard time downloading it. The beta just hangs trying to update and Chrome is painfully slow.

I'm pleased to announce that EDDI 2.3.0 has been released. This release contains a large number of fixes and enhancements.

Please note that a number of items may no longer work as expected due to changes in the Frontier API. Items that might be missing or unreliable include

  • flags for if cargo is stolen and/or related to a mission, and cargo purchase cost
  • fuel level of the ship
  • engineering information for all ships, and any details at all of ships in the shipyard (also effects export to Coriolis)
  • ship and module purchase cost
  • accurate value for number of limpets when not docked

This might result in some templates not saying the expected thing, for which I apologise.

Also, this is likely to be the last EDDI release for a while. With the exception of any critical bugfixes I'm not planning on adding features in the foreseeable future. However, the community for EDDI is active, especially around changes to personalities, and I'm sure that many of the knowledgeable people on this and related threads will continue to help out with questions and enhancing EDDI's presence with better scripts. If there are any C# developers interested in adding features to EDDI or carrying on with maintaining it then feel free to drop me a PM.

The full changelog for EDDI 2.3.0 is below:

  • Core
    • Tidy ups for reading from and writing to files to catch potential exceptions
    • Do not send data to EDSM or EDDN if in a multicrew session
    • Better handling of unknown commodities
    • Attempt to handle messages coming from unknown ships with the prefix "$ShipName_"
    • Update internal list of commodities
    • Update internal list of commodities to include all known items
    • Fix error when caching starsystem information
    • Fix potential crash when comparing current and future star systems
    • Fix typo in test event for 'Commander continued'
    • Ignore nameplates when obtaining modules from journal
    • Add 'Enable ICAO' option on text-to-speech tab. When enabled, planets and starsystems with alphanumeric qualifiers (e.g. the "AB 1" in "Shinrarta Dezhra AB 1") will be spoken phonetically (e.g. "Alpha Bravo One")
    • Catch corner cases where ship name could come back empty
    • Fix issue where 'Test script' button would not activate with custom scripts
    • Changing verbose logging checkbox updates immediately
    • Better updating of ship information from combined journal and API data sources
    • Add ship role 'Taxi'
    • Rename 'Companion App' tab to 'Frontier API' and update relevant text to clarify its use and operation
    • Volcanism for bodies is now an object. For details of its fields check the relevant documentation
    • Add ancient artifact commodity definitions
    • Add ship value 'ident' which is the user-defined identification string for a ship
    • Allow monitors to handle events, and generate their own events in turn
    • New monitor: Material monitor. This allows you to set minimum/desired/maximum limits for materials and generate events when the limits are exceeded. Materials are tracked automatically in EDDI. Full details of the material monitor operations are available at https://github.com/cmdrmcdonald/EliteDangerousDataProvider/wiki/Material-monitor
    • Remove the Netlog monitor. This was only used to obtain destination system when jumping and is no longer required due to additional information made available in the journal for this purpose
    • Fix exploration role 'Trailblazer' to have correct name (was showing up as 'Explorer')
    • Add reset button to Frontier API configuration panel
  • EDDN Responder
    • Migrate to new EDDN endpoint
    • Avoid use of data from Frontier API when setting starsystem information
  • EDSM Responder
    • Provide error message when attempt to obtain logs fails

    • Add 'File Header' event when a new journal file is found. This is usually just for internal use
    • Add 'FSD engaged' event when the FSD is engaged to jump to supercruise or hyperspace. This replaces the 'Jumping' event and has a similar script
    • Deprecate 'Jumping' event. This is part of the netlog monitor, which is no longer required. The functionality has been replaced by the 'FSD engaged' event
    • Update 'Liftoff' event to record if the ship lifting off is player controlled or not
    • Update 'Location' event to add longitude and latitude if the location is on the ground
    • Add 'Material inventory' event when material information is supplied

  • Galnet Monitor
    • Galnet monitor now categories and stores news articles
  • Material Monitor
    • Update locking conditions for inventory
  • Ship monitor
    • Track cargo using loadout event. This only gives a rough idea of cargo as it only triggers with certain events (docking, swapping ship etc.)
