Well, EDDI is an awesome tool, but for IT illiterate people like me it's a bit of a steep learning curve. :D

You shouldn't need to do much to it to once you've configured it, it should just run and talk to you. Tweaking it becomes as involved as you want it to be, but most alterations that people carry out are relatively minor. You can always ask away if you're not sure how to do something.

Great thanks, you're all awesome.

I need EDDI to shut up until I ask for status report or something. I got the multi crew from HCS and they all talk on top of each other sometimes, and I makes me crazy, like attending a women's tea party :D

If you have VoiceAttack then you can create commands that disable/enable the speech responder. The commands to do this are listed at https://github.com/cmdrmcdonald/Eli.../master/VoiceAttack.md#disablespeechresponder. If you aren't sure how to do this just yell, as I have them ready for the next release and can send you the relevant snippets.

Thanks mate, well I really want to do it, but I don't even know where to start, I'm a kind of click click click install kind of guy :D so please explain or show me how its done :)

EDDI and 2.3 Beta

If you are in the beta please could you disable the 'EDSM Responder' and 'EDDN Responder' plugins so that these do not send beta information to the live servers? To do so you should start EDDI, go to the relevant tab and uncheck the box that says "Enable this plugin". You will need to restart EDDI after disabling the plugins. Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to EDDI and loving it so far, but noticed that it will not let me uncheck the "Enabled" box for Landing Pad Report in the Speech Responder tab. Is there a way to turn off the landing pad report? I've tried copying the default personality and it doesn't let me uncheck it there either. And if I delete the Landing Pad Report line, it just comes back.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

The landing pad report isn't triggered by any particular event, so in itself can't be unchecked.

If you want to turn it off you can disable or edit the 'Docking granted' event, from where it is triggered.

Thanks for that info. There's a couple I've created that aren't directly triggered by any journal event. And they can't be unchecked either. Good to know.

For some reason EDDI has stopped updating market data for me on EDDB.

It worked yesterday, but the place I am at now shows no update for 14 hours, which is wrong as I've been through twice now (not in beta). Version 2.2.0, EDDN plugin is ticked as enabled.

Script changes shouldn't crash EDDI so it won't be that.

Please could you do the following:

  • On EDDI's main tab check the 'enable verbose logging' button
  • Shut down EDDI
  • Remove %APPDATA\EDDI\eddi.log
  • Restart EDDI
  • Play until a crash
  • Restart EDDI
  • Hit the 'send logs to developers' button on EDDI's main tab
  • Uncheck 'enable verbose logging'
  • Let me know

And I'll take a look.

To let you know, I think I figured out what was going on. It wasn't the netlog plugin. It was EDSM. I had ED Market Connector also running, I think when EDDI and it simultaneously tried to update my commander's log on EDSM, there was likely a NAK that EDDI handled by crashing. I disabled netlog and still had occasional crashes when jumping. Disabling EDSM fixed that. Closing EDMC and enabling the EDSM plugin seems to still be stable, so there's the conclusion.

Thank you, again.

I'm having the same issue ATM. Not sure if the API is down or what

Sigh. Turns out... I'm wrong. I spent the last four hours heading out of the bubble and back. EDDI was stable from the moment I posted that until I got back within 5 jumps of Xihe. Then it crashed.

That said, I've determined it's system-specific. If I got Piscum Sector EX-J A9-0, EDDI will crash as soon as it pulls netlog and tries to tell me where I'm going (before it speaks). If I restart EDDI once I arrive and scan the star, it crashes as soon as I scan the star. Obviously I can only do that once. But I can leave the star and come back. Every time I go there, it crashes. Not sure what it doesn't like, but my trip out through 60 jumps around Synuefai survey stars... flawless.

Now I get to compile a list of where I am when it crashes and try to figure out a pattern. Or heck, maybe it's something with the voice I'm using. I'll reply again when I know what's what.

Elite doesn't provide the star's class anywhere in the journal unless it is unknown and then scanned with a detailed surface scanner, so if it isn't in EDDB then EDDI can't report on it.

If you find such a star you can add it's information directly to EDDB by clicking the 'Fix it on ROSS' link at the bottom of the relevant EDDB page.

EDDI should unset the stellar class if it isn't known; I'll take a look at this and fix it.

If I understand the following line in the Beta 2.3 changelog correctly the target star's spectral type will appear in the journal so maybe no more need for EDDB to get it ?

•At the start of a jump, include the target star's spectral type in the journal

Yes, there are a lot of changes coming in 2.3 relating to the journal and they make a big difference to some of EDDI's capabilities. It is, however, resulting in various big changes in the underlying codebase so it might be a little while until anything is ready.

What e-mail and password should I type into the "Companion App" Tab? I hope not from my frontier account, because that will never happen.
