EDDiscovery 18.X is now out. Modules panel upgrades and Engineering

Quick question, as maybe I've missed something in the settings somewhere. I've noticed that EDD only updates Inara/EDSM with the commander that I have currently selected. If I forget to switch commander before logging in with my other account, it doesn't push updates to the websites. Is there a way to have it send the updates in the background for the other commanders/accounts if I forget to switch it over, or if I have them both logged in simultaneously (on the same computer)?

Is there a way i can speed up this process, as previously i have used it as a guide to where to move in game by a lack of stars in a certain direction on the 3d map.

You can reduce the number of stars by limiting what sectors you have loaded on the Settings tab and the 'Select Galaxy Sectors' button. The 3D map is a bit creaky and due for an overhaul, no promises on when though.

I don't believe that there is, switching commanders and doing a manual resend of unsent to everything is your only option at the minute.

If you've got two logged in simultaneously do they have their own journals or are they munged together? In theory you could have a second EDD pointing at the other journal location if they're different - it would need to be using its own DBs and I've never tried this...

I'm pretty sure they get separate journal files but they're in the same folder. They're timestamped based on the session start, but otherwise look the same. It would mean EDD would have to read them both in parallel, I suppose. Hmmm. Conundrums. :)

It's read only access so two EDDs could read the same journals. Make sure they're not both downloading everything from EDSM as well. There are probably all sorts of ways it could subtly go wrong but it might work.

My comments do not constitute this being an officially supported use case :D

Still more coding to do.

When it does launch It won't replace the current 3dmap, but as an addional option. The 2dmap will be removed as this map will cover its usage.

Later the old 3dmap stuff will be added to the new map and that will be retired.

Love EDDiscovery, but I'm having a heck of a time setting up a grid tab exactly how I want it. Not able to delete certain elements as I put one together trial-and-error style. I would have thought the white 'X' in the red octagon would delete a field, but when my mouse moves over that symbol it changes to an icon to 'pop out' that window, with another one next to it to change what said window holds. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

On the grid tab, when you select a panel the middle button in the set in the top left corner should become enabled.

That is the 'Remove selected panel' button.

I have a quick question that I can not find the answer to on the EDDiscovery GitHub...In the Scan Panel, under each of the planets/moons there is a number at the very bottom that references the "BID + Parents" in the description box that pops up when you hover the cursor. What exactly is the BID? I have attached a graphic for reference...thanks for any help that you can provide. Fly safe...Fly Dangerous...o7

I apologize, I meant to say the 'Splitter' type of window was the one I was having trouble with.

edit After playing around with the Split view for a bit, I think I've gotten the hang of it. Right-clicking on the divider between Split panels gives a context menu.

That's the body ID and the ID of the body it orbits.
If you hover over planet 1 you'll see another ID and multiple parents: BID 14 parents 'Null' 13 and 'Star' 0. This means that the planet orbits a 'Null' object with the BID 13 (this is the barycenter of planet 1 and 2) and that barycenter orbits a star with the BID 0.
If you hover over the first moon of planet 1 you'll see: BID 17, parents 'planet' 14, 'Null' 13, 'star' 0. This means the moon orbits the planet with the BID 14 which orbits the 'Null' object 13 which orbits the star with the BID 0.

Hi guys,

I've been using EDDiscovery for some time and love it.
A few days ago I noticed that some statistics have disappeared from statistics/travel tab and I could not find how to restore them. For example, there is no fuel and scooped stats anymore.
How can I get them back?

Thanks,

Ricardo Vizibelli

I noticed some changes there as well after the last update, I suspect it was just a clearing up of some fields that they considered unnecessary, can you add them back in through the settings panel where you add the stats panel in the first place?

Hi Varonica,

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I could not find how to add them back. At settings tab I only saw the item "essential entries" that was set to "all entries for Statistics".

The calculations in there were taking multiple seconds for too many journal records and regularly bringing the entire system grinding to a halt. As part of trying to limit the number of refreshes and get each one down to under half a second on a large dataset I got rid of a few that were just not that interesting.

The times and tons scooped was particularly bad for performance because FDev write multiple journal records during each scooping.

Ok, I understand that. (y)
Any chance this stats come back not showing as default, but the user can set them "on" or "off"?

And, I'm finishing a long journey around the galaxy (1 year) in about 10 days. I was updating all stats and I lost them just now at the finish (this update could have been delayed only 2 weeks :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:). Can I install the earlier version over this one and get this stats until I finish my journey?

If you make a backup of 'EDDUser.sqlite' (and 'EDDSystem.sqlite' if you downloaded EDSM's systems) you can uninstall the current version, install a previous version and move those backups back to their original place without losing anything.
