Release EDDiscovery 18.X is now out! New modules panel upgrade and Engineering

Hello Commanders,
I've been using EDD for almost a month now and I am impressed with this tool.. I found however one thing that either I do not understand, or it's "just a feature" and there is no fix for it.
So.. my system has logs only from April this year.. I am back in the bubble and trying to scoop some materials for another long journey.. well

The systems I have already once visited, in the game itself I have all the information.. but those are the systems I visited year or two years ago.. and as far as I know, I cannot re-scan them. Well, as I am set for full sync with EDSM and EDDB.. I get this view:

:image:

is there any way, that I could import all the materials, to see on EDD what's on every planet?

Sorry, if the question is lame but I spend more time grinding materials than investigating the new application ;)

Thought if I asked here, the answer would come much faster

If they were scanned before October 2016, then any such scans can only come from other players.

The lack of materials suggests that either the player(s) who scanned the planets didn't have detailed surface scanners, or the planets were manually entered into EDDB before November last year.

In other words.. even if I know the system.. there is no way EDD would know about it, right?

Same here (using Google Chrome), and my antivirus started popping up warnings. I gather something went wrong on the server end?

With 8.3.3 Avast didn't like the program once downloaded and installed and you were trying to run it, wanting to submit it to the company for analysis and blocking it in the meantime.

With this 8.4.1 release, Avast is actively blocking one's browser from downloading it, and if otherwise downloaded is blocking it as infected with "Win:32:Evo-gen [Susp]". VirusTotal is reporting that AVG and two other tools (amongst many) would also consider the file inflicted. (Though another such website reports that AVG finds it clean.)

While probably false positive, could the developers have a look to see if this can be fixed their side?

Thanks

I had similar gripes from AVG with 8.4.1
I had to create an exception and all went fine

Woah what happened!!!?!?!

I have been parsing the journal view of my journey and producing an excel based summary of my exploration for month, now in 8.4.1 there's no journal tab.
Ok I can export the History view, but there's no estimated value for scans! why oh why!?!?!

heeeeeelp please

Interesting, I'm using Avast too, didn't have a problem with 8.3.3 but can't d/l 8.4.1, on the 1st attempt it starts to d/l, but then is halted.

Same here, current version (8.4.1) gives a Malware warning. Didn't have that with previous versions.

Which is a shame, because the custom tabs feature in the patchnotes is something I've been wanting desperately...

I've passed the installer through VirusTotal. You may want to too. You'll see that Avast and AVG signals a 'generic' virus.

They are moaning mostly because its new and not known.

I have submitted it to Avast as a false positive.

Not sure what else we can do.

Yeah ok for me too now :) (although I did get a warning saying something about a trial installation package??).

I tried to report a false positive the other week (for something else), but I couldn't find a link in Avast or their website! Wth?? Where did you report it to? (I just looked on their site again, no joy!).

Interesting, I'm using Avast too, didn't have a problem with 8.3.3

Avast stops it under its PUP (potentially unwanted programs) and suspicious files feature (I think). Still does with the current version available for download.

That reply was about you not having had problem before with the 8.3.3 installer.

Avast has no problem with the downloading or when manually scanning previously 8.3.3 and now the current version available on github. However, when I attempted to install it, it complained of potentially suspicious behaviour and (until manually overridden) blocked it and uploaded it to Avast for checking. (It has later on come back with a message saying it's clean but the point is there's something it still doesn't completely like it.)

The trial installer message is because they've recomplied the program using a different installer program/version than before to stop the anti virus block, persumingly a trial version just to get it working in the mean time.
