EDDiscovery 17.X is now out! New Spansh intergrations - 3dMap from spansh data, Station panel

I have a question about the ledger, regarding selling Organic data.

Today I sold 3 Organic Data, but the ledger has the total wrong. It has a total of 127,200, which is equal to the credits for the two Fonticula (63,600 each). The 296,300 for the Bacterium is missing. And none of the bonuses are reported.

Later when I restarted ED, then the ledger noticed the credit discrepancy and made an adjustment.

Is there anything to be done about this?

Thanks :)

Wow! Great job with the update. Although it purged most of my settings and ignored existing EDSM database (recreated it in another location), it's not a big issue.

One question regarding the new 3D map: when zoomed in, the route lines stay very thick, like 10 times thicker than the circle that represents a star/system. Can I change it somehow? Or make it dynamic, depending on zoom level?

Sadly no.
They are so thick because I complained that thinner lines are invisible when looking at the whole galaxy. There's no "get thinner when zoomed in" code implemented and if I remember correctly it's very difficult (if not impossible) to switch between different thickness values without recompiling it.

Help!

I updated to from a version lower than 15 to version 15 or higher and now:

  • EDD read all my journals again
  • all my settings are gone
  • all my personal notes vanished

Here is what happened:

Version 15 reworked the installer. Now it contains the screen seen on the screenshot.
Earlier versions of EDD on default put all user generated data in %localappdata%\EDDiscovery (this is the behaviour recommended by Microsoft).
If you chose to put EDD in a non default directory (which would be %programfiles%\EDDiscovery ) all data would be stored in %localappdata% if not especially told otherwise.
With version 15 the installer recognises if EDD is installed in a non-default directory and tells EDD to put all generated data in that directory too. This new behaviour causes EDD to search for its data in the install directory rather than %localappdata% - and as it fails to find any data it starts to build the DBs from scratch.

What can be done about it?

  • If you don't care about the place all your data gets stored it's simple: Close EDD -> Go to the directory you installed EDD to -> delete optionsappdata.txt
  • If you didn't know EDD stored all its data in a directory other than the one you installed it and you don't want EDD to do this in the future: Close EDD - > Navigate to %localappdata%\EDDiscovery -> copy everything in there -> navigate to the directory you installed EDD to and paste every file from the previous step in the Data folder -> start EDD to see if everything is like before the update -> if everything is fine you now can delete %localappdata%\EDDiscovery to free space on your main drive
  • If you knew about the default behaviour and specified a different location yourself in the past using command line options: Delete optionsappdata.txt in EDDs directory

This one fixes a few crucial things found:

Just a quick note although you probably already know, multiple errors on startup, to do with graphics updates I expect according to the error messages, had to fall back to previous version, Windows 10.

We had nVidia and AMD users who tested it, there were no longer reports of errors with the new code (there were in 15.0.1).
So please provide more details, especially the log file of the failed attempt located in EDDs Log folder (default location %localappdata%\EDDiscovery ) and perhaps some screenshots.

I have reverted back so I don't have screenshots, but basically they were just a repeat of what's in the log, I can re-install if you really need the screenshots, error log here, my next step would be to try the latest vid drivers and see what happens, however I haven't had a chance to do that yet. Okay, i've found the issue causing the compilation error above, due to graphic card differences. Every one is different.

A driver update is unlikely to solve it.

I could send a test image, but we normally only do that via discord, because we don't want it widely circulated. If you want to PM me i can send you one to try Varonica later. It will be a .zip file which you just copy into a folder and run, and therefore would not upset your current install. Or you may be happy to wait for the next version..
