I guess both in a way? Some won't play it because 30fps in not acceptable in 2021 and some can't because they get unwell from low frame rate stuttering. And some keep saying everything is fine, because Elite 40 years ago only had 10fps and we should be happy we are given 30Won't or can't? Like they fixed Powerplay and Multicrew? Sadly I'm out of good will at this point. If we play it more, they will fix it...
I said that back on June 23rd...
Unless you really like playing by yourself, exploring, and just taking nice screenshots and some pretty videos of sunsets or sunrises on thin atmospheric planets. Just avoid any settlements, avoid any on-foot combat and don't bother wasting any time doing the point-n-click exobiology.
Currently the ONLY selling point of Odyssey is the nice screenshots and videos of some choice tenuous atmospheric planets - that's it - nothing else in the entire release is worth a damn or what most players actually wanted or expected from Odyssey.
( unless you are one of the lucky one whose hardware somehow manages to cope or you are just happy to lower your settings and resolution until it's playable and ugly. )
Seven weeks is nothing. If you think it's something, you are still quite young (however, if you think seven years is nothing, you've been around the block a few times).7 weeks later
they should put 2060 for minimum spec ( 30-60fps) and 3090 for recommended (60+)
Considering I can get 30-60 fps (minimum) most places without trouble, even in Ultra, I have to agree. No, they should not, they have to fix it in order to run properly. As much as i like ED, it doesn't have anything graphically so demanding to justify this level of performance.
I've got a pretty good system and don't do settlements and can (mostly) live with repeating tiles but the lighting / shadows is quickly killing the game for me and I was shocked it's been reported as 'fixed' in the recent stream. It feels like the game is randomly guessing how much light the player can see, and what's in shadow but keeps changing its mind.exasperation thread about the broken lighting, shadows
Or 2 800 work hours with 10 devs.To put things into perspective, 7 weeks is 35 (or less!) business days, or 280 work hours

Yeah, I experienced what you described yesterday when I landed on an atmo planet - contrast and brightness randomly changed, really putting me off as it keeps taking me out of the game. On top of flickering/morphing shadows and textures (all set to Ultra).I've got a pretty good system and don't do settlements and can (mostly) live with repeating tiles but the lighting / shadows is quickly killing the game for me and I was shocked it's been reported as 'fixed' in the recent stream. I always imagine her saying that wandering through a station and all the proto burgers walking about.
In that case, Frontier, stop with optimisation work because it's good enough on a card well above recommended spec, if you stick to a lower resolution at least.2070 Super here with 1080 display - get over 60 fps everywhere, so![]()

Actually, I very carefully avoided it by specifying only the actual hours, not man-hours (for one thing, I don't actually know the team size)Well, you're the one who brought up the mythical man-hour.![]()
