EDO will likely have 'Thargoids in the flesh'

Valid or not its more coal for the hype train.

Choo choo CHOOOOO!!!1!

Not in reply to Leo, I just can't be ballsed to go find who keeps on about Watson...

Btw, if I was doing a project about solving a problem, and had to give it a name, Watson seems like a good choice - it's less conceited than Holmes anyway.

Please no.... Don't make Odessey an FPS version of Starship Troopers. I didn't sign on to Elite to play an FPS, I wanted a space sim with trading and galactic level exploration. There are plenty of other FPS games out there that will do it better (if FDev track record is anything to go by) and with VR.

Heh, as I recall, one of them kickstarter tier book licenses climaxed with the protagonist having at it at a bunch of thargoids with a gatling gun and invectives in gaelic... :p

Personally, had I been the developer, I would have wanted to keep any opportunity for players to encounter thargoids mano a garra away from any markering material, and save it for dropping them on players in game, after making them expect something less intimidating. :p

...(Or it was a misunderstanding by the leaker, or what have you)...

That's what I am thinking. There is almost bound to be procedural assembly of base interior tiles, for mission locations, and I could see somebody hearing somewhat of that, and misconstruing it as players getting to do the jigsaw puzzle.

When you mention Gaelic, do you mean one of my four famous words? I don't mean Nuns.

Given that we're only getting "tenuous atmospheres" for the forseeable future, and Earth-likes are ruled out, then Ammonia Worlds will be ruled out too. So we won't be seeing "naked" Thargoids, or Thargoid homeworlds, or baby Thargoids. If we see Thargoids at all, we'll be seeing Thargoids in spacesuits, on planets that both Humans and Thargoids would find inhospitable.

If it’s actually the 'thin' category that they’re unlocking, which seems very possible now, they do include ammonia atmospheres. Even at low pressures seemingly. So landfall at Tharg outposts could still be possible ;)
