EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

A friend and I are playing ED this weekend. I helped him install ED Profiler (latest version). On his install the GUI Colour will apply but none of the Graphic Settings will apply. I deleted everything from %localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics and the ED Profile directory but still it will not actually apply any Graphic Settings changes. Any ideas on what I should do? Thank you much.

Sure did. What xml should EDProfiler be writing to for the graphic settings info? I can check and see if something is preventing a proper write. But looking in that directory all the timestamps change for the xml's. However I couldn't find any specific information for draw distance, texture quality, bloom, etc etc

It writes to 3 files for graphics:

Custom.fxcfg
DisplaySettings.xml
Settings.xml

In other news, I added a randomize button to the GUI editor. Enjoy!

He will be over to the house again next Saturday so I will attempt to follow up at that time and see if we can figure it out. I'm not sure if he will troubleshoot on his own. I generally enjoy tweaking/troubleshooting things like this a lot more :)

As for the download install issue, you'll need to just uninstall it, rename your %localappdata%\apps\2.0 folder, and then install again (through internet explorer, not chrome or ff or anything).

As for the texture high setting issue, email me your C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics folder: kaii@dr.com

Hey drkaii - first off this is a great utility and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is extremely grateful for you writing and maintaining it!

Is there any update on the Texture Quality issue? I can 100% reproduce this every time with a fresh installed of EDProfiler and clearing the EDProfiler folder from Documents and the Graphics folder from the Frontier Developments AppData folder.

You save a profile with Texture Quality = Medium, then when selecting the profile in EDProfiler you can see that the value saved is Texture Quality = High.

It seems to be an issue when the profile is changed and then saved i.e. the texture quality written to the file is always High (2) regardless of what is shown on the screen. I am currently working around this by closing EDProfiler, manually changing the texture quality value (medium=1) in the xml file using Notepad++ and then re-opening EDProfiler.

Only HUD colours are working.

I don't think the rest of the app is working for me. Displays full screen as I've set it but only for a split second, then reverts back to smaller screen. Is it compatible with Oculus Rift and launching from the Oculus homepage?

That's an issue with the game. It ALWAYS resets and frontier haven't addressed it in 3 versions :)

Question, I had EDFX installed and decided to remove it and use your program. Howeve, i'm worried that the settings i set are not actually staying because when I launch the game, i still get the below on the screen which was from EDFX, or are you using this too?

Nope, you haven't uninstalled EDFX properly, that's all. It's really hard to totally get rid of! Can't help you there

You can add it in manually for now. I'll try and set it as a default next update!

Hmm, not sure about that. Launch Elite only starts the launcher, it doesn't do anything more complicated than that, which implies it's unlikely to do with EDProfiler.

You can go to the documents\EDProfiler\Defaults\paths.xml and edit the <Launcher> path to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch\EDLaunch.exe (or whever it is)
