Reviewers often praised the game's art and presentation, but had complaints about the perceived underdeveloped gameplay, weak writing and inaccurate controls.
It also appeared on numerous lists of the worst <franchise> games ever developed.

Poor reviews included outlet citing bad level designs, shallow and stereotypical characters, quirky AI reactions, and a "stupid plot."
"this year's most significant gaming disappointment."
"horrible plot, weak gameplay mechanics and visuals that are truly underwhelming."
"citing examples of bland gameplay and graphics"
