ED's Problem

If we only think about MMO mechanics then I believe yes, EVE is years ahead. But taking overall "space sim" genre we can argue and ED probably is the best out there.

Moderators - feel free to delete the thread.

It's too opaque for some of our dear readers and I can't be more direct without breaking the rules.

The review comments are not reviews of ED.
But they have a direct and significant relevance to what I now perceive to be the core problem with ED and its development direction.

Yes that has been true except FDev recognised this which is why we're getting beyond - this year at least (needs 2 years imo) is going to fix the shallowness and add depth to the game. So we'll have to see towards the end of this year what content they're going to deliver to improve trading, exploration, mining and missions.

There's a direct causal link between those reviews and the issues I see with ED.

I could be less obtuse but I do feel it would break at least one forum rule.

Yes, we can see that but then use your own words LOL. Using other peoples words that describe another game to convey a message how you want isn't how you write a forum post and obviously too since many people are taking umbrage over it. When you write a post it's important to put in your own words and not use other peoples words out of context. One it's lazy writing and shows a lack of effort on your part, two it doesn't sit well to read comments that aren't addressing ED even if those comments appear to be relevant.

Apologies that the causal link isn't clear enough.

Those quotes need some context, I suspect. Presented as they are in the OP, they are simply poorly presented opinions that I don't agree with. Of course, you are free to agree with them. :)

Um, what?

I have no words. I'll just leave this thread alone.

Most games you play are done within 100 hours, some AAA games even sooner. Other games you keep returning to and the more you play them, the more you see the flaws and the gems in the game.

Total War series to me is one of those games, DCS,FSX,ARMA,IL2 series, Endless series, stellaris, and a few more.

ED is one of those games too! I agree that if you get the feeling of a mechanic is bolted on, it's not done right, and boy do ED have some of those.

However the beyond makeover is actually looking good from my point of view, sure I'm not going to be happy with all of it, but I expected that. It's too early to say anything actually, I like a lot of the features coming in beyond, until now it's mostly a win-win situation, so i'm going to wait and see if BETA will change my mind.

If you enjoy the game, play it, if not move along

I'm pretty much onboard with this more than ever.

The continuing whine fest from the usual suspects has left me with a sense that there needs to be a KULL of the ED community.
