Release EDSM - Elite Dangerous Star Map

Hi Edsm devs,

I recently created an account and when signing up had to use an alternate cmdr name as it said my one was unavailable. Now when I try to import my journal logs it fails as the journal entry does not match my cmdr name.
This makes perfect sense.

However - I wasn't able to choose my actual cmdr name - someone else must have taken it.

Cmdr name is the same as my forum name. What do I do here? anyway I can import old journals, or would I need to replace cmdr name in the journals to match?

Thanks

So you are the developer responsible for EDSM?\

If so you really need to add a "Contact" link somewhere in the tool.

In any case I have some questions: How do you get the data on Organic Structures? EDDiscovery has my find of Bark Mounds but even after sending data EDSM doesn't list my find anywhere. It only shows one discovery, no confirmations.

EDDiscovery has this data:
{
"timestamp": "2019-02-05T23:16:22Z",
"event": "CodexEntry",
"EntryID": 2100301,
"Name": "$Codex_Ent_Cone_Name;",
"Name_Localised": "Bark Mounds",
"SubCategory": "$Codex_SubCategory_Organic_Structures;",
"SubCategory_Localised": "Organic structures",
"Category": "$Codex_Category_Biology;",
"Category_Localised": "Biological and Geological",
"Region": "$Codex_RegionName_9;",
"Region_Localised": "Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm",
"System": "Skaudai CH-B d14-34",
"SystemAddress": 1177567513979,
"IsNewEntry": true,
"VoucherAmount": 50000
}

I verified my EDSM Name and API Key between EDDiscovery and EDSM. It is correct and matches.

I mean no offense... My messages may seem terse (that's just how I write; to the point) but no offense is intended.

There's a twitter link on the home page, a forum/discord/twitter link on the footer on every page ^^
The twitter link even got our contact email :)

Have you tried reimporting your journal see if it fixes your issue?

You should now be able to rename your commander under settings

Here's a dumb question I still haven't figured out yet. How does one submit distances now? I'm curious about getting the badge, but recall something that for quite long while distances no longer need to be submitted...

If you're in system A, search for it on EDSM, go to the distance tab, it will give you some system we need distances to.
Go the the galactic map in game, search for them and enter the distance shown on the tooltip.

Hi EDSM people

I am a PS4 player and am currently on Distant Worlds 2, and I am unsure how badges are awarded on EDSM. Since I started using the console updater I find it surprising that badges I am 100% sure I should have got by now still allude me, the 2 jump distance badges (going, going… and gone.) and and various first discovered Badges are the ones I am curious about. because my first discoveries are showing up on EDSM and occasional Jump distances are recorded, but I still have not been awarded badges for this. I was just wondering is this just due to the limitations of the console updater and if so will there be a way for console players to get these badges in the future?

Thank you from a very confused and frustrated badge collection

Try to check on your profile and dashboard see if it unlocks some of the distances badges.
Also note that console don't have bodies, nor coordinates, so it can be harder to get them.

Nah, I'm one of the ED Discovery devs.

EDSM knows there are Bark Mounds there - https://www.edsm.net/en/search/syst...ulated/0/radius/65000/sortBy/distanceCMDR/p/2 finds your system

G'day mate. Just created an account on EDSM after hearing that I could now link my PSN account to it. I entered my email address and my commander name but nowhere did it ask me for a password or to link my PSN account. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Your account looks ok to me, if you signed up into Frontier we don't need any password as Frontier is vouching for you.
When you play, just open the console updater under the account menu, then let it work!

Confirmed - the default authentication method is EDSM, even with a console account, and the password prompt is not available and not checked. No password is sent to the email address, and no password is displayed (the password that Chrome tries to save is "NOTSAVED", which works for logging in).

Edit: using the dropdown to choose the account type instead of clicking on the platform symbol gives this issue.

If you click the console platform, the register form will redirect you to the Frontier Auth Service. The NOTSAVED is only to bypass the form validation.
Code:
[COLOR=#000000]["authMethod"] => string(8) "Frontier"
[/COLOR]
I'll fix the hidden select to pass the right value to EDSM if it doesn't work to be Frontier for console always!
You might have something preventing it to pass hidden/disabled select value.

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah my account looks like it's working but just wanted to check why I didn't get a password or had to authenticate.

Can you elaborate on the "if you signed up into Frontier we don't need any password as Frontier is vouching for you." part though? Are you saying that because I have linked my PSN account to my Frontier account it just automatically knows who I am because of email and commander name?

I just logged out to check how it works. So I logged out of EDSM. Click Log In which takes me to the Log In page. Obviously I can't use the email and password form on the left because I don't have a password, so I click on Log In below the "Connect using the Frontier Auth Service" section on the right. This takes me to the Frontier authentication page which asks for a email/username and password. If I click the PlayStation icon at the top it automatically reloads and I am logged in. If I instead of clicking on the PlayStation icon I enter my PSN login details into the fields below I'm returned a Username or Password incorrect error.

Using the dropdown to choose the platform instead of clicking on the platform symbol does not switch the authentication method or hide / show the email address field.

Whoops, fixed that part!

I can't say how it works on Frontier side, I only know you need to check in to the PSN in order to Frontier to link the proper account.

We are given a token that authenticate your account.

Well I tried it on the iPad and I had to authenticate by logging into my PSN account. Could be that my PSN credentials are saved on the PC as I do use the PlayStation web store at times. Maybe that is why it already knew who I was?

Can anyone tell me why my flight log on EDSM hasn't updated since February 1st? I use ED Discovery and I thought it forwarded my flight log to EDSM. Thanks

Ok, thanks. I got it finally working. Now since I have to use the tooltip, is there any tricks so that it keeps it up when I'm switching to another monitor to enter it into EDSM? Seems it works most the time and stays up, but other times the tooltip keeps disappearing and I either have to remember the number in my head or write it down?
