Release EDSY - The ship outfitting tool formerly known as E:D Shipyard; reimagined, redesigned, reborn

Updated to 3.5.0.1:
  • added Advanced Missile Rack modules, new in EDv3.5
  • updated power draw of 5B Prospector and Repair Limpet Controllers, corrected in EDv3.5

If you go to the Outfitting tab at edsy.org and click the import button (looks like an up arrow, at the top left of the center panel), you can actually just paste those URLs right in (though you'll probably want to give them different names to save under, so the last "Adder" doesn't overwrite the others).

If you have other builds saved in your browser on the old site, you can also go to edshipyard.com/migrate.html and it will transfer them all over for you automatically.

Coriolis is down EDSY keeps showing "A new version is available !" ,witch would be good I guess if watherver I clicked or tried wouldnt end the same "A new version is available !" over and over...

Thanks again for the new version, it really works well (also on mobile!).

Just found that there is a discord server for many ED tools (like eddb, coriolis...), each with it's own channel. Eventually also a good place for edsy? https://discord.gg/kXwU69

edit: forget it, it's already there

Updated to 3.5.3.1:
  • added Analysis section with a Retrofit calculator to generate a report of steps and costs (in credits and materials) to convert or upgrade any number of builds
  • corrected bulkhead costs for Krait Mk II
  • fixed a bug with importing builds from the Frontier API after especially long play sessions
  • fixed a spurious warning when importing some builds with modified Sensors

EDSY keeps showing "A new version is available !" ,witch would be good I guess if watherver I clicked or tried wouldnt end the same "A new version is available !" over and over...
If you turn your browser's debugging console on, what messages do you see there? If this persists, you might try clearing your browser cache (just be careful not to clear your localStorage, as that will erase all of your stored builds too).

Hello, thanks for the tool.

As a new player, I'd like to make a couple of requests:
1) An option to set the discount % on price for everything (station discount), not individually for each module. (new players are poor :p )
2) A field to show the "difference" cost between a new ship and your build, considering you sold/replaced the existing stuff. That way we can know exactly how much it would cost to upgrade our ship to certain builds.

Thank you!

EDIT: Seems you already did 2). I had to CTRL+F5 my browser for it to show the new version.

The retrofit calculator is, indeed, exactly what was added today. :) But I had hoped ctrl-f5 wasn't necessary any more, the site is supposed to cross-check its versions and prompt to update as needed. So if that's not happening and you have to ctrl-f5 to see changes, I'll have to look into that.

The reset-all-discounts function is definitely something I've found myself wanting too, so it's on the list. Soon! (TM)

Great update, will test the material calculation soon. When you do a new ship with major engineering of modules, a list of required materials to farm is really useful.

I wrote my own tool for it, because I missed a functionality like that from the start. But having it directly in the ship outfitting, perfect. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/tool-component-calculator-for-blueprints.409937/

Wondering why not more people use EDSY. I like it much more than coriolis, especially on mobile and with the last updates. Preference I guess, but many also don't know edsy that well.

I just wanted to say thank you for this excellent shipbuilder, that I find far more user-friendly than coriolis. Coriolis is very good, but EDSY is better ;)

Honestly, every time I go to an engineer, buy a new ship or reconfigure an old one for a new task, I always come to EDSY first to plan what I'm going to do !

I tested a mamba(please see link below) in deep space firing the 3 PAs at resting heat.
The resting heat is at 23%, edsy claims 15%.
The firing heat from 23% to 96%-100%, edsy claims around %62-65 (The variability given by edsy.org depends on what guns I put on class-1 hp, but I only fired the PAs). Am I missing something ? Do I interpret the thermal statistics incorrectly, or did FD not disclose the exact formula they use, or is this a bug in the mamba that I should report ?

The heat capacity and dissipation attributes I have for the Mamba come from a fairly reliable source, but it's possible they were tuned in a patch and no one noticed til now; I've made some inquiries about it. Thanks for the report!

THANK YOU @taleden for what must have been HUNDREDS of hours of work over the years on ED Shipyard and EDSY!

Both tools have been an absolute god-send for me personally and make specing ships an enjoyable experience!

I've just swapped over from ED Shipyard to EDSY today and the new tool is AWESOME!

Keep up the great work!!

I have a couple of questions however:
1) Is there a way to apply a 10% discount to everything? (eg; Founder's World global discount)
2) Some of my imported ships don't seem to be applying all the engineering mods unless I remove and re-add them. Is this a known issue?

Found an error. I think most of the ship cost values are from a person who has elite. If I use just 15% in edsy I get them from Li space is the same price as I payed for with my 15% and 2.5% elite bonus.

I know the corvette at 15% is 155mill in EDSY, which is the exact price I payed for my original one at Li space before christmas for 15% and my 2.5% bonus. So a bunch of ships needs a 2.5% increase to get the correct base price.

Is this still the relevant thread for EDSY errors BTW?

Edit: Also, Imperial hammers have their Sustained and DPS values wrong. I think the current sustained DPS is the correct value for actual DPS using only the 1.2second charge and fire time of the burst and any intervals.

I can't figure out what the damage per second is. And not completely sure if any of it is correct as I can't tell if Burst Interval is applied to non High capacity version before the reload time is added. Not sure what else is correct or incorrect.

Example:
High Capacity; Plasma Slug: Burst ROF: 6/s=0.166666; Burst Interval=0.36s; Charge time=1.2s; Reload time=1.2s; Damage=13.5; BurstSize=3; AmmoClipSize=6;StatedDPS=21.39/s; StatedSustainedDPS=36.39/s<-This is the correct regular DPS. And regular DPS should always be higher than sustained.

1.2 Chargetime + (0.16666 * 2 BurstSize-1)+0.36BurstInterval + (0.1666666 * 2 BurstSize-1)= 1.2 + 0.33333333... + 0.36 + 0.3333333333... = 2.22666666666s

13.5 Damgepershot * 6= 81 / 2.226666666666s = 36.37724550898203592814 rounded to 36.38 in EDSY

This is the current sustained DPS value for this weapon setup. This should be normal DPS if I'm not mistaken.

Sustained DPS should be:

81 / 2.2266666666666666s+1.2s = 81 / 3.42666666666666666666s = 23.63813229571984435844/s?

I think all versions of the imperial hammer have this wrong. And the DPS is not the correct sustained DPS from what I can tell. Unless I missed something. They are not simply reversed.

I'm not sure how the ROF and Sustained ROF values are calculated either. The ones that say x/s in time as opposed to damage. Currently 1.5845/s and 2.695/s.

I'm not currently sure how all of the in game stats are produced either... 8\

BTW, High Capacity fires as you would excpect. Charge time, First burst of three, Very small pause, Second burst of Three, Reload time. Or from what it appears to do.

DPS in game is calculated as:
1/6=0.166666666666666*2=.333333333333333+.4=.7333333333333333/3=.244444444444444444
1/.24444444444444444=4.09090909090983471074=4.1/s

15*4.09090909090983471074 = 61.3636363636475206611

0.166666666666*2=.333333333333+.36=0.69333333333333333333
13.5*3=40.5/0.69333333333333333333=58.41346153846153846182

1/6=.16666666666*2*.33333333333+.36=.69333333333333/3=.231111111111111
1/.231111111111111=4.3269230769230769231

13.5*4.3269230769230769231= 58.41346153846153846185

This means it has a 10% reduction in the burst interval...(.4*.9=.36<-Already in EDSY) But does it even use the burst interval outside of High Capacity? I couldn't find any alternatives to the 10% reduction to burst interval.

Also, does this mean that the burst interval is always present before the reload time starts or is this just a cheap way to calculate DPS?

Does the screen when you engineer give any more info away or the one when it's equipped. I'm too far away to get them atm. And too lazy.

Hi,

there is an error in the calculation for the rail gun in Long Range.

I have ingame a 1D Rail Gun with Grade 4 Long Range and Plasma Slug and it tells me, that the Damage is 21,0 ,the Firerate is 1,6/second and therefore the Dps are 33,3/second

In EDSY an 1D Rail Gun, with Long Range Grade 4 and Plasma Slug, shows a Rate of Fire 0,6135 and with this the Dps are only 12,887 / s

Can you please correct it.

Hey! I've recently discovered edsy and its dope (better than coriolis anyway) but there is one thing i miss: export to edengineer. any way this could be added?
thanks again for this amazing tool :)

Thanks for this wonderful tool!

However, i am looking for a possibility to transfer my builds between several pc's. They seem to be stored somehow, but i can't transfer them :(

Just to the left of the name box is an arrow pointing down towards a tray. This is the export tool.

When I want to copy my builds I generate a short link for each build and copy that Link to an email, text file, Google keep note. Whichever is easier depending on where it's going.
