Duuude I miss those manuals. I mean, I never usually used them anyway, but they were nice to look at regardless
As for news I'm not really a PC gamer either, and I never particularly followed Frontier games before this one, so I don't know how they usually reveal things. A lot of people seem to
expect more news which feels weird to me because personally, less than 3 weeks out, I'd rather they just keep everything else a surprise so we don't open the game and know everything. I mean I liked having new animals in the beta that we didn't know about before.
Even the number of animals I feel is unnecessary to divulge. What better marketing than telling people 50+ animals and they open the game up to find double that, you know
I never really read the full manual, but the "cheat sheet" that mapped out the different controls, commands, and keyboard shortcuts as well as the diagrams that highlight the different menus and options were always very helpful. Easier than the "You can figure it out!" method most game use today. I get why they do it, but having a reference via a web site would be useful...
This is what roped me into Frontier, too! And it led me to buying a new gaming laptop, purchasing Planet Coaster, and actively engaging in a non-music related web forum for the first time in 15 years or so. So yeah, I can't speak to how things usually get revealed by Frontier or anyone else really.
I'm not sure which approach is best, to be honest, as far as "reveals" are concerned. I think they found themselves in a weird spot when that tweet went out saying "many more than 50" animals and another response somewhere saying "50+". Not saying whether that included exhibit animals or not (I'm guessing it does). And people getting all sorts of excited, assuming 50+ means dozens more.
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter... But I think if they had a significant number more than 50? The would up the base number by that amount (meaning, it would be 60+ or 100+ or whatever). That would make more sense to me.
I guess leaving it up to chance in the base game just gives me anxiety/excitement about what's to come and I'd like to know what the hard list is. But that's on me, haha.
Either way, I'm excited about getting
at least 50 animals to start the game. It'll be a good way to start off, haha. And I honestly feel like--as with any game--regardless of what the developers do? A certain segment of people are going to complain and be unhappy about it ("You said many more! Many doesn't mean 5 more!"). And I kinda refuse to be one of those people.
So hey, here's hoping for 50+ and many more to come via DLC!
