Elite Apartments

While I'm fully aware there are fundamental game mechanics that need to be prioritised.
I am wondering if, and when, first person is implemented will there be Station Canteena's and/or Commander housing.?

Will all Commanders be wearing the same Outfits?
Will there be shops for different flight suits and helms?
Hope so..

I'd love to see scalable station quarters for Commanders R&R.
Complete with Station views, Galnet Feed, Email and Hanger access.
(The size of the apartment and number of amenities dependent on price.)

While I have read a lot about what's to come I don't recall seeing any mention of these options.

Hiring or getting a contract from an NPC or Player at a Bar would be very cool.
Also a great way to socialise and meet people without having a finger on the trigger.

If anyone has any knowledge on this be great to hear.

I'm not to sure about the Commander quaters idea, but I agree an Elite bar in each station with voice comms to hang out in and talk to other players would be great--perhaps it could be implemented in such a way that no matter what mode you played in --open, group, or solo, you would still be able to chat to all the other commanders who were at your station and who went to the pub

I have had the same musings.

When landing at an outpost, I see the alternative landing bay (internal) and wonder if we can one day purchase housing and use the "private entrance".

With so many systems and stations, surely renting or purchasing accommodation is a credible function. The complaints of the "sterility" of the game are not without validity - it just feels like you're the actual ship itself rather than a person within the ship. With the planned function to allow walking around ships and stations, this will surely bring an organic element to the game. I, for one, can't wait.

None-the-less, having a place to call home will really seal the deal. A sense of belonging to a place or faction will bring a level of engagement to the game. For example: if your home base is threatened (either through war or financial ruin), then surely you will be faced with a decision to abandon your home or fight for it.

All the pirates out there will want to live on those outposts in anarchy systems - getting drunk, singing bawdy ditties and romping with three-bosomed wenches, no less.

On a final note, I'd like to be able to do more than just spend my credits on ships, upgrades and repairs. I would like to make investments in commodities, research and development, political parties. A GUI for banking, which allows player to player transfer of funds.

I also want to know if Frontier will re-introduce cabin modules onto ships, so we can escort people to expand our missions.. and maybe we could hire people to "fly" us to our other stations to retrieve our ships.. maybe this will be part of the Imperial Courier design.

for instance, I own an ASP in a new home star system... but it's 1000ly away and I can't be bothered flying there in my vulture.. so I'll put a notice in the bulletin board for other cmdr's to take me there, so I can fly my Asp back to my new home system and keep both ships there.. I'll dump a few credits into the job, and set minimum parameters.. such as "must be aligned to Empire/Alliance/Federation, cant have bounties in destination station, etc".. and post that into an open bulletin board.
If the ship that's escorting me back to my desired location/station gets killed (possibly by a faction that I am opposed to, or the pilot gets killed from pirates or just collides with a station) then I respawn back at the station I was last at, with an indication that the pilot failed to complete the mission, so therefore they won't get paid. I could imagine this to be somewhat a taxi role.. maybe you could do this for fugitive NPC's and also PC's, and make some credits from it.

I assume all cosmetic gear for avatars will be purchased through the online store via real money just like paint jobs.

I did think that would be a good idea but I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work in practice.

If I want to do a trip such as you describe I buy a Hauler, equip it for maximum range which costs about a million, get where I'm going and strip it and sell it. I lose about 3k on the deal with no fuel costs because I fit a scoop.

I can't see anybody agreeing to take you 1000ly for 3k. If I wanted it to be done overnight and not do the jumping myself I guess I might be prepared to pay up to about 50k but again, who'd do it for that money you get killing one Viper in a RES or a couple of trade hops in a Hauler?

That's why supporting this feature request would be helpful:

50k multiplied by a shipload of commanders/NPCs? Yeah I can see someone doing it for that kind of money. Traveling 1000ly for 2-5 million credits would be pretty nice imo. That is assuming we can carry 500+ passengers at a time in something like an Orca. That's the only way I can see that being profitable.

In every MMO/multiplayer game I've ever played that included housing, it's always been the same. requested for months, enjoyed for days, forgotten forever. It's one of those things that you'll want until you have it, and then never go back.

You're already flying around in your player home ;-)

This is exactly what I want. I'm not bothered about planetary landings I just want to be able to get out of the pilots chair and walk around a station then head back to my own space. It was just add to the immersion Id really be able to feel like I had some sort of ownership of the system I shacked up in Id take more of an interest in local politics it would be something to fight for.

First they need to add walking around inside ships, then station pubs, bars, cantina, appartments, player owned asteroid stations (player housing). Your ship is like a mobile home.

I have to agree with this. Housing sounds like a fun sort of thing, but not really adding to game play, and would get old quickly. There are far more exciting things I would like to see time spent on. Now a pub is a different matter ;)
