*sigh* once again : no one is accusing the WHOLE of the DSE of shenanigans. Not one bit.
What's being discussed is whether or not data from the DSE should be able to be sold or not by one or two commanders who may or may not have been Hand Of God'ed out of that area.
I didn't go on the DSE - that doesn't reduce the point. There have been a couple of posts from folks who did go on the DSE and agree that this data should never have been sold and that any tags should be removed from the DSE systems.

Basically Open has been ruined for me by massed gangs of explorers.
Remove tags. I mean it's simple you can't tag it using in game mechanics. I'm not placing blame, it's just a bug and needs to be fixed, simple, done, over.

I'm not that bothered about the tags, I am bothered about the precedent. I mean what about all those unfortunate commanders who never made it back with their data from normal exploration? If I had been in the black for three months and accidentally slammed into an asteroid, losing all my data only to see someone get back and sell theirs by the hand of god, I would ragequit for sure.
The thing is when you accept it into the group, they are allowing it, if i was a mod or the owner of the group i would have banned this guy ,if he is here just to take his name on things and is up to anything to do it, including going into support to ask for it, or cheating ,or killing the competition... Then he should not be welcome there.
The what is point of games if no is going to follow the rules....
Pretty much pointless then. I would quit happily agree with implementation of sharia law on cheaters, hands cut off and all that.

If possible (it's probably not possible but if it was) the "discovered by expedition" tag should be over-writeable by any CMDR who does manage to legitimately sell the data (using future expansion jump ranges). As if the Universal Cartographics was more of a "we believe these systems were explored by the expedition that we sent to explore them, but if you can return hard data, the proper credit is yours"

I've never seen this m67 cluster in the first place, let alone even care who discovered it.
I pay very little attention to "Discovered by" anyways. It's not like it has any impact on anything anywhere in the universe anyways.
And would this REALLY be a one-way trip?

When this CMDR asked what they should do on the DSE Discord, the DSE Discord was unanimous that there should be no tags. This was brought up on the 18th. We had no idea anything happened until someone found the tags the other night.
Do not think DSE is endorsing this at all...we're much more angry about it than anyone else because all but one of us played by the rules set forth.

Yeah - the sheer weight of the number of these things has been bugging me for a while.
No, just turn in a couple of sightseeing passenger missions, or several hundred tonnes of excrement from a (not so) far-flung corner of the galaxy. That works. Quicker than the ticket.
