News Elite Dangerous: Ascendancy | New Release Date and Release Schedule

I used to wokr in weekly magazine. Before it went to print 5 to 10 people would read each page to find all mistakes. Despite this, every time after it was prined, one of the journalists would go to the toilet and come out with a few more typos... You can't totally avoid it and game is even more complicated.

I would say totally other thing. Things, like magic wings problems of Mandaly isn't important for having fun of the game, so it can be fixed later. This year Frontier promised a LOT of amazing things, it is totally undersnadable that sometimes something goes wrong. According to previous udpate schedules we are still one week before expected time :)

At least that is pretty ethical to Player base.
Would imagine that some other extremely market-oriented company would simply release everything as-is, then would give Players some overpowered weapons to deal with those NPCs-berserks and called that a "new feature" = profit!

Where have you been for the last five years? We already have that with engineering.

deal with those NPCs-berserks
If only.

Overpowered weapons? Yes, I remember the bugged patch where NPCs got e.g. railguns that would fire as fast as multicannons. That made the game interesting! But this was patched out soon afterwards.

No, the hideously overpowered engineering we have.

Compare that to the 2015 era NPCs in PP1, it was like firing a howitzer to cut a tomato.

If NPCs are uniformly sponge pudding again in PP2 I'm going to be 'a bit upset', hence why I asked the question I did.

Great... PP 2.0, still no easy way to kick out the powers if needed easily, PvP'rs are still gonna simp to Aisling Duval, because only she have the Hi-Cap shield (Prismatic), which is pretty much mandatory in PvP. Not mentioning Engineering.

And the rest... Sigh, this game will forever remain half-baked. It had so much potential. 😟

I am pleased FD is taking the time to get the release right and taking an extra week to do it. Where I once worked, we engineers have a saying.... Better to be late a week to get a design right, that to release on time wrong and spend years fixing it. I can remember prior releases of Elite Dangerous where the QA appeared lacking and it caused all sorts of heartache for the fans and FD.

Simps are annoying chumps who engage in a deluded fantasy... and fail to see the character for what it is. Aisling Duval really has a Princess complex.

Fdev should first let:
  1. ED partners play-test the update for a month prior to a potential release
  2. Evaluate the bugs, feedback and necessary improvements
  3. Fix the bugs and implement feedback, improvements
  4. Announce an official release date
Then Fdev wouldn't have to embarrassingly announce multiple delays in a row.
I understand that these delays come precisely from the feedback received from the content creators of the Partner Program who have been testing the update, right?

In any case, a few days, or weeks, is nothing for a content as complex to implement as this, I don't think it's something to demand responsibility for, and even less to insinuate that it's a shameful situation... Shameful is spending years announcing something and not releasing it, not delaying the release of content just a few days...

Whenever the programmers can't fix specific bugs or problems, they tend to generalize fixes and affect irrelevant parts of the game. I hope they don't break general NPC behaviour or something totally unconnected.
I'm basing this on attempts to fix the lateral thrusters / rotational correction behaviour which makes our ships land sideways on FCs.

And what's your source for that? I'm not trying to argue (honest), but as far as I know, Frontier haven't given a date,

Maybe you have me on ignore, but as I replied to you previously the only date we've been given by Frontier was about 18 minutes into the July livestream, roughly:

when is [the T-8] coming out?

the 7th of August of August a week from today ... and then I think it's early access for three months ... like the python [Mk II] and then it'll be in game for credits for Odyssey players

Meaning 7th November if we take 3 months literally.

hence why I'm trying to get Paul Crowther to actually say something ....

The T-8 seems conspicuous by its absence in the announcement.

PP 2.0, still no easy way to kick out the powers if needed easily
Oh, there really is. All Exploited-level systems instantly drop if they lose support from having Fortified/Stronghold systems nearby, so weakening particular Fortified/Stronghold systems down a stage could drop tens of Exploited systems out with it. And with all the Powers in PP1 having taken such care to not overlap their Control spheres ... well, that's a huge number of their Exploited systems dependent on just a single Fortified to stay with the Power at the moment.

It could be an absolute bloodbath where most of the powers lose half their systems in a single week if enough players go on the attack and don't let the Powers establish a properly overlapping defensive structure first.

Even if you wait too long before attacking and they've reinforced their position a bit ... well, it's still possible to kick them out of a system by attacking that system in PP2 until it falls, compared with PP1's "undermine the entire power, get them into turmoil, hope it's one of the ones they lose, if not try again" loop which might never work.

(Obviously if there are more players on the other side who want to keep the system, then there's no easy way to kick them out, because they can always reinforce faster than you're undermining it. But that's how it goes. At least there's an easy way now if you're not outnumbered.)

I don't think that's very embarrassing, it something that can happen with software releases..

Including losing all your fire group configurations everywhere, as has been shown several times in the past 🥂

We're all better off if they fix the gamestopper bug first, as it is one apparently.

O7,
🙃
