New players in all online games for the fact of joining after others are always at a disadvantage, they will eventually have their own advantage over other players who join after they do and so on. no where in the rules of the world does it say that games need to be egalitarian, they would all be boring if that was strictly the case.
The disadvantage of new players is in lack of skill and experience. Both can be overcome by training.
If the disadvantage is hard-coded into the game, the only winning move is not to play.
How could you even enjoy prevailing over younger players, knowing that the game is rigged against them? Your achievements wouldn't be attributed to your skill and experience but to the advantages the developers handed to you. And once you do lose against a younger player, no rematch could restore your reputation.
I respect your opinion, but I doubt it represents a majority. I believe most players prefer a fair competition on a level playing field where victories are meaningful.
However, I do understand that you don't want FDev to mess with your existing fine-tuned builds. In my opinion the only acceptable solution here is to keep the option to apply experimentals at least to the double-engineered 5A drive, if not to all of them.
