Elite Dangerous: Horizons and Future Updates

Please don't forget, this is planned for season 2 - in four "expansions".
So it could take up to a year before its all done.

I'd reckon

Landing on Planets + Bobbleheads - 2
Faces + Multicrew - 2.1
Loot + Crafting - 2.2
Fighter Bays - 2.3

- - - Updated - - -

I'm hoping that we are going to see tracks (where we drove), piles
of destroyed sand when driving over them, small rocks getting moved etc.
I hope it is NOT static.

So do I and I cannot imagine they have not thought that too.

Nop Craft is Q1 2016 (date already announced) so 2.1.

And i assume one thing : Multicrew Fighter bay with NPC before with friends.

I think we'll see what the Horizon-Teaser showed: Landing, Driving and maybe get back in space again... It's sad that I can't see it live, because I have to work... but when I come back home I'll plug in my beamer and watch it with some cold, good german beer and something tasty from my netherland neighbours... ;-)

That tasty in combination with the presentation of the David Braben bobblehead. My muscles are still sore from all the laughing.

I think it will be static when it comes to big objects, if you've got boulders rolling down hills etc that might not be a good thing for the network game. But dust, dirt, pebbles and small rocks for definite I would have thought.

I would expect it to be like drawing on an asteroid with a laser: you see the marks, etc., but they are not persisted, so once you leave the area, there is a reset.

Which makes pretty much sense... who should store all the data for persistent tracks? As long as we see some track marks, tiny rocks bursting off and some nice dust effects, it will be pretty cool.

atm

confirmed:
2.0 landing
2.1 crafting and loot, confirmed earlier in newsletter and during the first horizon announcement

speculation:
2.2 fighter bays, the thing is once we can land on planets all the systems for AI taking control of your ship is there, making implementation of fighter bay easier.
2.3 faces + multicrew, i would say faces comes before multicrew if they are split, secondly out of all the things they showed multicrew is the hardest to implement thus this is coming much later

Sounds right to me.

Multicrew is the most complicated things to put in the game.

A large number of updates to the first page from today's EGX Q&A in Birmingham which can be seen below. If I missed anything please point it out!

Some pieces of info to add from newsletter 92 :

Multi-Crew lets you fly in the same ship with friends, which will up the intensity and camaraderie levels of a joint mission even further! You’ll be able to share and alternate control of weapons systems, turrets and flight duties to multiply your effectiveness. Even to the extent of piloting a ship-launched fighter and working in combination with the mothership. It’ll be especially useful in some of the very large trading ships coming in season two.
So new ships oversized to come.

About Onbard ships
Deploy your fighter under AI control or take the stick yourself and fly into battle while your mothership lies in wait.
Ship is either IA controlled or Multicrew controlled.

Speculation : Multicrew can also include "NPC multicrew" for solo players. Not yet confirmed but higly possible.

Apologies if i've missed this, but was there any mention of additional structures, anomalies and randomness whilst cruising through space?
I'm really hoping for them to be adding some additional interest around stations, moons, outposts etc.

I'd love for them to be adding random events, such as catastrophic failures at stations, pirate raids around outposts etc to add some spice and life.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but in one of the EXG videos the FDev's said that v1.5 would bring the total ships in the game to 31...and elsewhere I heard them saying something about adding more large ships in season II...So presumably during season II the total number of player ships could be well above 31. For me this is very good news as I think the greater the variety of ships available to players, the better. The more the merrier as they say

FD have promised 30 ships as a stretch goal for season one. It was never said to be the maximum. There are lots of ships from the old series, that have the looks and the status to make it into E: D. And ships are a nice addition to the game to keep the audience excited. Throwing in a new one with each update will keep the things running and the paintjob shop running. I bet we will see the days were we pass 50 or more different ship types.

Alas no... There's talk of maybe some of the CQC back drops being used... But as regards new/more content for exploration and general space flight... Looks like nope. So logic would suggest this is it for a good while now - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=95448

Personally I'd prefer if "V1.5 - Ships" was "V1.5 - Space Content"...

As others have said, loot and crafting should be 2.1 and I don't think Fighter Bays will necessarily be its own update. If you can deploy your SRV from your bay, why shouldn't you also be able to deploy a Condor? There's really not that much difference.

50 or more would be great...stuff like something the size of a Python, but with a bit less cargo area, a better FSD and another hardpoint

I bet we will see a lot more single role ships. Highly specialized ships like different fighters to pack into the coming launch bays, super-transports (i would love tankers) and probably even a small corvette sized carrier for fast intervention missions and space superiority fights.
