But it's really annoying if I have to fit and afterwards unfit a laser every time I want to change a FG :(

Edit: After unfitting the laser I can't change anything, again. That's a real bummer :(

Another Edit: My bound key for "next FireGroup" is not working anymore. The bound key for "previous FireGroup" works okay.

Make sure you are on the latest version.. are you playing on PS4 by any chance? I have just tested this in Odyssey now and the firegroups are back to working correctly. The issue where you need to add a weapon to assign firegroups was in 9.01

Have just tested this in Horizons too and the firegroups are all working normally for this cmdr.

Thanks for getting this patch out, really appreciate it.
If you can just manage to fix the hostile NPC wingmen not showing on radar before the Xmas holidays, you'll be golden.

I'm playing EDH on PC via Steam which updated the game right before I started playing some minutes ago today.
The launcher says V 2021.12.15.279397
Ingame says: Elite Dangerous Odyssey Compatibility Update (3.8.402)

Edit after some testing:
  • Switching to ED (without Horizons). next/prev FG key works when not docked at a station. When docked, only prev FG key works. Same for ED with Horizons active.
  • Re-assigning modules/weapons in FGs works inflight and docked as long as the ship has at least 1 weapon equiped. If no weapon is equiped it's still not possible for me to change the content of any FG neither inflight nor docked.
  • Re-assigning modules/weapons in FGs on a docked ship without any weapons works exactly once - if you exit to main menu, resume and go to the FG tab right away to make the changes. After leaving the righthand panel and re-opening it, it stops working again (although the menu still stays in the FG tab).

That was an item mentioned in Arthur's holiday message regarding a fix for the influence mission issues being in update 9 but it seems that was left out of the patch, is that delayed till further notice? Any update on this issue incoming?

It was in the update 9 patch notes but nothing changed. It's only a visual bug as far as I can tell now. The journal still reports the correct INF gain even if the mission screen says 0.

It seems clearing empty groups doesn't work, it's not fixed (Odyssey), see, Group "C" is empty:

Fit a small Pulse Laser, even if you don't use it, you can then change fire groups (workaraound). (PS4)
OK, PS4 - Fire groups - Python - still have issue trying to change fire groups.. if I fit a weapon.. then I can edit fire groups.. once I remove the weapon. the fire groups become "locked" again.

Ok. at least we have a work around until the next duck tape + super-glue .. er i mean hot mess fix.. er sorry i mean

'patch'.. yeah .. yeah ,, patch .. thats the ticket.

It wasn't in the update 9 patch notes that I'm aware of, just in Arf's announcement of Update 9. In the actual update notes it wasn't there. It's not just visual though, the influence from the high influence missions isn't applied.

  • Firegroups fixed for me but others still have problems.
  • Game has reverted to yeeting you sideways once again if you dock/undock in FA off.. (this was just fixed now it's unfixed)
  • Items released from spawn points on the ground like materials or in this case canisters from a cargo rack magically can be shot up into the sky where they stay.

Using EDH V 3.8.402:
My DBX was parked before 9.0 Update. Now has empty FireGroups and I still can't navigate into the FireGroups if I leave them blank and after I changed Tabs on the righthand panel.

Issue tracker for Firegroups cannot be set if no weapon is present in Horizons (ii tested on XBox, but is happens on PS4 and PC too)
