ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous: Horizons Set to Land for All Commanders

That's biased and you know it.

Although I would hope that if any change is made, it's by FD and not the community, because design-by-playerbase is bad.
Yes I agree.

The decision is for Frontier and without outside influence.

And as Frontier has always kept its promises for the exclusivity, the status of the Cobra Mk IV will not change.

Indeed. As always I am not saying that they will change things. Merely that there is absolutely no legal block to such a change.

There is a difference between can and will.

I am merely speaking for the reasons of why it can, as there is no concrete evidence it will.

Yes, it's a matter of respect of the guarantee given. If Frontier doesn't respect it, his word would be no value in the future (A bit like some international agreements if you know what I mean :p).

If there's anyone on the forum capable of causing mass arguments, it's apparently me since basically every time I post people start arguing. You would think I would have asked for something incredibly over the top instead of just a fun little ship that isn't used.

I just want the damn ship again. I don't care if it's not good. And if you wanna keep it exclusive because "forever"...well I got a lot of words for you.

All frontier has to do is make a poll anyways and ask people.

They should do the poll the way they did the ship transfer one and e-mail only MK-IV owners.

Based on past MK-IV threads the majority will vote to release it. I certainly will.

Yes. But then, I don't think the world would weep if more people get to play with a pretend video game spaceship.

And if no exclusives are offered post-hence, then that word having no value is in itself a worthless concern, as everything else is still getting delivered upon as expected, not to mention that for each person's respect lost, there's likely to be another gained. Likely more than one as far more people would benefit than those who would "lose" something.

(You wouldn't lose anything BTW. You're not having the thing taken away.)

There will be other exclusives in the future. It is an essential commercial incentive for a company.

And even if there is no more exclusivity, the behavior that you describe would be very detrimental to the brand image of Frontier.

Indeed. But you have no evidence that it will take the form of tangible game content. Could well just be cosmetics and frankly, that's harmless. Last I checked a paintjob or ship kit doesn't provide an entire unique spaceship in a spaceship collecting game with unique stats. It just changes the thing's colour.

And no, I really doubt it would be detrimental. Most of the gaming community, not just in Elite but across the board, is sick of exclusives. They are almost up there with loot crates, quite honestly, in negative opinion.

Plus as I have said so many times, exclusives in many, many other games have been made available to the masses later down the line for years, across the whole industry. It's not a new concept and nobody outside this playerbase would bat an eye, as it's far from unusual as a practice by game devs.

Well, it is a behaviour that lacks dignity and seriousness.

I am even quite shocked by your words which describe the behaviour of a thug in the business world, close to the scam. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about the object itself (cosmetic or ship) but the behavior.

That depends on how it's received. Given players like me with the MK-IV are a minority and the ones who object to everyone getting it an even smaller minority it would just be the fashionable gripe of the day and superseded quickly.

The potential for people who like getting it is much larger and also bolstered by some MK-IV owners like me who think everyone should have it.

Most MK-IV owners probably don't care either way.

Like it or not, it's quite normal. And yes, you've already agreed to the possibility of that exclusivity changing when you agreed that you own nothing in the game and that Frontier is free to do as they wish with their code.

Nothing in any online game is ever set in stone, except that the Dev is always free to change what they want for any or no reason, and that they have zero obligation to "consult" their players.

I have the Mk IV and I do not mind if it is distributed to everyone.

I’m talking about behavior. In the future if Frontier offered me an exclusivity to encourage me to spend money on a product, I could not take them seriously and I would tell them.

Trust would be broken.

The word given in business is sacred.

Transgressing it, condemns you to be considered as a thug.

Yeah I would wager that many gamers don't care so much, TBH. Because as I say, the only thing hated more than exclusives is loot crates. They are that unpopular.

Depends how you spin it really.

"the MK-IV as an exclusive ship is a blocker to piracy gameplay, so we've opened it to all players as a fix. Here's some paintjobs for the inevitably upset types who are holding the game back"

Works better than :

"Suckers, the EULA you agreed to says we can change it"

Yeah.

If I can't steal your Cobra Mk IV but can every other ship than you've just hit actual P2W rubbish.

I don't understand what you mean here :)

Google.com

Just search "video game loot crates", if you're being serious with not knowing, which I doubt as I am fairly certain I have seen you discuss these in the past. I may be mistaken of course.

Either way it is not difficult to find out more and in fact, these items are now banned in Belgium. My friends in Belgium in ESO are completely locked out of many items as they are not allowed to buy these crates. They are only cosmetic items, sure, but they are still locked out.
