We are happy to announce that Elite Dangerous: Horizons will become a free update for the base game on the 27 October 2020 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox users.


After the fold down, anyone who owns Elite Dangerous will get access to Horizons content and features free of charge, and all future purchases of Elite Dangerous will include this content.


As a huge thank you to everyone who has purchased Elite Dangerous: Horizons over the past four years you will be receiving an exclusive Azure ship paint job compatible with ALL ships currently in the game.




Elite Dangerous: Horizons brings planetary landings to the Elite Dangerous galaxy, together with weapon crafting, ship-launched fighters and exhilarating multicrew co-op action. This premium expansion also allows players to put wheels on the ground and explore the galaxy up-close with the SRV Scarab ground vehicle, and access to many surface star ports and other locations


Elite Dangerous: Horizons will remain on sale on all platforms until 26 October to allow players a last chance to obtain the exclusive Horizon owner reward.

I don't watch live streams, so I can't identify the staff member year or which stream it was. However that doesn't mean the relevant clip hasn't been posted in these threads before.

The dev's would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

I understand your frustration, but isn't that at least part of the reason there are moderators, to deal with the bickering?

Last time I discussed that quote with the mods they said they could also remember FDEV saying it, however as for most people these things are not a huge deal just like me they didn't pay attention to which staff member said it or when it was said either.

Now it would suffice for an official statement from Frontier in this thread.

Why a developer, a moderator, the management of Frontier does not say in this thread that the company Frontier reneges on its commitments regarding its exclusivities ?

I was wondering why Frontier isn't announcing today in this thread that the Cobra Mk IV will be available to everyone ?

Because they know that reneging on their commitment to an exclusivity will damage their brand image and their honesty. ;)

That's subjective, I'd expect a larger proportion of the player base to be pleased than miffed. Even most MK-IV owners like me.

You're wrong again. This EULA clearly states 'patches, updates and modifications to the Game that must be installed in order for you to continue to play the Game. ' Only that.

Your quote is worthless for this issue.

So it's unproven claims and mis-presentation of EULA.

Space ship access via location, rank, space-cash or whatever is a game modification.
