In other words - why buy any updates when you can have them for free? Then again, it's not like Horizons screwed over my playthrough by goalposting the vanilla gameplay behind the awful engineering grind. Defininitely hasn't been worth the money, but for free it's now adequately priced with all its F2P gameplay yollocks.

Interesting point. Just like "why buy a high quality computer today, when you can have the same processing power on a budget PC in a decade"?

Sure, everybody gets access to Horizon now. But i think we already spent some years there. Also, this is very much the "default" for many other games out there: older expansions at some time get integrated into the base game package, only the newest expansions are still sold seperately.

So if this is a tree to bark up on, there's a vast forest out there and i see busy times ahead for you... :D ;)

It was inevitable and frankly, anyone who didn't see this coming was living in denial, IMO.

I'm happy to hear it. It's good news for the game as it now means the P2W arguments of Horizons are invalid.

Bring on Odyssey.

Ye, it's a bit rhethoric. I'd say it was worth it for the planetary landing had they stuck with that and not introduced the power creep noone ever asked for. It is retrospectively not worth the time and money I stuck into the game is my resumé. Of course the early adopter buys in at higher price. The early adopter doesn't expect to get shafted like that though. Especially when early adopter is told the crappy rng tombola is only about "mild upgrades" when it's actually full-blown power creep.

Oh well, that is kind a sad actually... Because that means that the Odyssey is either the absolutely last update "season" and the game is consider dead/winiwshed, or the next one will come after another like 2-3 years, maybe longer...
That makes zero sense.

Expansions like Horizons are rolled into MMO base games all the time like this.

Your comment isn't even supported by trends across the industry.

Doubtless to his immense relief.

But I daresay we are neither of us surprised at this announcement. Certainly I never thought the devs would fancy keeping track of three different versions of the game.

The paintjobs are worth more than a sale version of Horizons these days, so that's nice.

Starting on Oct 27, we’ll no longer be able to escape SRV mishaps by booting non-Horizons. 😜
The core game will still exist, but the Horizons expansion will be provided along with it. If you already own Horizons, nothing will change except each ship will have a new paint job

...
I had to make a new account so I lost access to it. So it bugs me not having access to all the ships in the game.

I like how it looks. I like the space it has. I want a complete collection. That's all I need.
Can you ask FD to transfer it from the old account?
