This is odd, when 2.0 came out it took just 15 min to update from the beta and when 2.1 was released I make a coffee and the game was ready to play, why are some have slow updates? My internet speed is average for UK?

What have you done to the turrets on my python, they either miss or don't fire at all. I just got taken down to 40% hull, by a ship that cost less than one of my ships guns.

I was sure expecting to find myself with a spanking new Cobra MkIV after buying Horizons, and that's what I believed was part of the deal. When I didn't get one I did a search and read the comments here and figured I must've misread the original agreement, but EDbubba's comment above confirms what I'd originally believed: pre-purchasers were promised a Cobra MkIV.

Only fair we should get it.

My recollection is that this was discussed and clarified when the Horizons was first announced - if you pre-ordered Horizons you will have the ability to purchase a Cobra MkIV - I don't think you automatically get one, you still have to buy it. If you didn't pre-order Horizons, you cannot buy a Cobra MkIV at all and will never be able to fly one.

there is a lot of confusion over this, the Cobra MKIV is available to buy as per the agreement. Too many people seem to be of the opinion that it was free. Never stated by FD (although at 65K at Shinrarta it virtually is free anyway).

I think Frontier will have some hard weeks ahead of them. And with Christmas around the corner ... I'd suggest to launch 3.0 on 01.12.16 next year :)

It's not so much about the ship value as the change. If the original wording was ambiguously generous, then honour the more generous interpretation. It's only records in a database. If they had a reason for not just giving us the ship and tightened the wording on the product page accordingly later, then can FD please share that with us.

The original wording at your link states:

"and unlocking the exclusive ‘Cobra Mk IV’ in-game spacecraft."

To me, at least, the word 'unlocking' makes it clear that the ship is being added as a resource available for purchase in game, rather than being given to each commander as a free ship.

Mind you, it does also say "The Cobra Mark IV will be added to your account when Elite Dangerous: Horizons Lands.".

I'm actually not that bothered. I kinda thought it was free, was slightly surprised when I couldn't find it in my stored ships, read a few forum posts to see if I was supposed to have it, decided I wasn't and bought it (I lost 5M credits 3 days ago doing the "just one more kill" thing at a RES in a badly damaged Python so 688K? pfft).

I kinda prefer available to buy over being at some random spot for free. I haven't bothered picking up my other free ships as they are in odd places.

No amount of discussion or clarification on a forum absolves a company from UK trading laws. Advertising an item with a free gift, and then changing the terms after people have handed over cash, is a no-no.

Well, yes it was. Just look at the archived copies of the store page that people are posting. Then absolutely unambiguously promised it for free, then changed the wording about a month later.

When the original announcement was made, several people asked on the forums does this mean the ship is given free or available for purchase, and FD gave the immediate answer that it means it would be available to buy, not that the ship would be given free. It was clear to them what it meant from day 1.

"Added to your account", means they are adding the flag to your account which allows you to buy that ship.

It's slightly open to misinterpretation, but I don't think UK Trading Standards would see it as false advertising as they never said it was a free give of a ship that would appear in your owned ships - that was just what some players wanted it to mean. What they did say very specifically is that nobody else will ever be able to buy that ship, which also kind of implies that you have to buy it.

I'll grant you, if I was in ED's marketing communication dept I might have worded it a bit differently, but probably that's why I don't work in marketing.

The ship is a low cost ship anyway so does it really matter that much?
