Greetings,
So you were silly enough to purchase this game and even figured out that there was a Forum which discusses it 24/7 every day, night, week, month, year and at 5+ years so far we're working slowly on a decade. We play the game and learn things to get better or sometimes worse at it after a major rebuy loss. With our mistakes we learn a little more. Players with patience and dedication learn faster especially with all the awesome third party internet info and YouTube videos they can go to look up a current difficulty or take on another challenge with Guardians, Thargoids or simpler bubble rescue missions. There are so many more just the easy part figuring how to make military ranks to later purchase a ship.restricted by rank.
Also whenever Frontier adds a major upgrade even after a Beta test it adds bugs to the game play that were not there before as well as not resolving others before the update. I cannot fix these issues but experience playing the game can get around them. As for Forum posts many often complain or want to change the game. They often give the perspective that this game is unplayable. But ask a question and see how many great players are there to answer it for you. Ignore the negative posts on your thread promoting their agenda. You will know the difference.
So we start with a Sidewinder, get killed a lot but learn how not to get killed so much. So WHAT IF we adjust our ship equipment to survive a little better. On to an Adder and then a Hauler from what we have learned to get the credits to outfit a Viper, then a Vulture for combat if that is your goal. WHAT IF we make adjustments to each of these ships for a better result? Of course one can make serious combat credits in a Sidewinder but you haven't figured that out yet...or maybe you did with a YouTube video.
As we gain experience larger ships have a totally different way to fly. Many players get frustrated with this. Welcome to ED. The medium pad Python is sort of an introduction to the larger very expensive ships if combat is your goal. Meanwhile used correctly with trading it will pay for every other ship in the game. Even a trading Cutter or Type-9 doesn't do as well. Patience, dedication and experience works well here.
Two years ago I engineered my Asp Explorer as a taxi. Fast fuel scooping and awesome jump range with class 3 shields to run away. I thought it was pretty good to get to my combat systems or say Robigo with passenger Python missions to make credits and G5/G4 materials. Then I engineered a combat Corvette, Cutter, Fer de Lance, (PAs and rail guns), Krait Mk II and my latest with a combat Mamba this week. I learned a lot and looking at my Asp Explorer it could do much better.
They all work great but being combat deadly and 38% to go for elite the Corvette kills faster. The Mamba is a lot of fun and twice as fast as the Corvette to attack an enemy but the Corvette takes them out in seconds. It is all about timing.
So WHAT IF I re-engineer my Asp Explorer and go into harms way. Being combat deadly the game won't give me any simple targets. So I did losing about 7 LY jump range which for 1000 LY is 18 jumps versus 20 with perfect conditions which never happen. But I did well in harm's way probably more about combat my NPC experience knowing what to do. Little tricks like thruster drag drives adds 10% thermal to get 5.6% optimal multiplier to go a little faster. Then the power plant thermal spread drops heat efficiency 10%. Everything that we design with a ship is connected.
But it is all about the game experience and the more you have the more you can ask WHAT IF and have a great time with it! This silly game is all about WHAT IF in a really large sandbox even the Devs cannot resolve everything. We players can. With my experience it is amazing what I do in a Sidewinder upsetting PvP players. Always think WHAT IF and have fun with it.
Regards to All
