Elite Dangerous Issue Report - 16/11/2021

We have videos going back of ship kits that blocked damage too but not sure if that got fixed, think it did.. but so many patches and so much reappears or fixes get unfixed I don't have the time to go back and check any of the umpteen things that went wrong.

Also I just wanna say i love the word "Greebles"

Something I noticed for some time now is Frontier's apparent approach addressing issues by not fixing the underlying root cause but the symptoms (at least that's how it looks like to me as an outsider). Cosmetics items piece-meal and by popular demand only, lighting, gamma issues, and so forth. Which seems to cause unforseen consequences elsewhere and isn't helped by their current patch testing/rollout procedure - still would love to know how things like the interdiction UI ended up moved to the far edge of the screen just like that, and best of all nobody noticed this until players started to raise it as an issue.

I'm not here to bash Frontier, I just want my favourite game to work properly.

Also have learned a Greeble is also called a Nurnie!! - EPIC!

And that could be an achievable goal if the company in charge would try a bit harder looking where things go wrong internally, and nip those in the bud. They'd spend less time fixing unforced errors, players have a better quality game, happiness all round.

I'm not here to bash Frontier either but when you continue to see the same issues crop up time and again you kinda hope (in a naive and futile way) that mentioning them would trigger some form of response... but I'm a random nobody on the internet who happens to play their product already - they don't have to listen to me of course let alone act on it. It's their business after all and they run it as they see fit. But if you as a company decide to operate a forum such as this and release sub-par products you have to be prepared for some headwind - which I personally would (mostly) consider better value feedback than just gloating praise (credit where it's due is of course fine and good for morale), as they can't pay their employees with that alone.

How do @sallymorganmoore just wandering is it favourable that there will be an update to address "issues" outstanding on consoles around the same time of update nine, cause on tracker only specified fixed At update 9 which isn't applicable. Cheers......oh yeah also are crashes reports still wanted/needed for consoles not really on anymore but if I am I'll know whether to place cheers

This would be a great thing!
We'll see how patch 9 is being delivered and what unexpected 'surprise features' that comes with...

But I'll leave it be now as this has been discussed so many times over so many years but here we still are. Still, hope dies last, right?

Might be helpful if you clearly outline what those 'issues' are and if they have an issue report, reference that too.. you'll have a higher chance of getting it looked at then. Telling the CM what the problem is in the first place is likely your most important step!

No worries phone crashed halfway through lost track of where I was but basically the blue tunnel issue cheers

You can add your blue tunnel reports over here if they involved a crash to desktop! (they usually do) CMs been looking for instances of such for a focused delve into the problem. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...p-console-crash-instances-over-coffee.592735/
Cheers buddy have added a couple to there already was wandering if they still wanted them though, haven't been on in a while and not to be negative but it will crash at least once at some point lol

Just added this issue to the Tracker: SRV shadow flicks off quite often, leaving the seat and CMDR floating on the ground when driving around. looks quite odd:

Weird, it didn't show up when I searched.

Done.

Aye - when doing the automatic “Matching Issues” search for a new report, my previous one will show up if you have “SRV shadows” in the title, but not “SRV shadow” 🤷‍♂️😅

Thanks for the vote 👍

@sallymorganmoore have found the cause of the problem I mentioned in this post here:

For some reason the game allowed me to bind the 'up' and 'down' hat switches to the 'Store Camera Zoom In/Out' without warning that they were already bound to the Up/Down of the UI menu navigation. Like this:

This led to a confilct where the menu button wasn't working in the screens I provided. I have since changed the bindings and it works ok now but in my testing 1 time out of 3 it allowed me to bind those keys without the warning that there would be a conflict. Maybe just something to pass on to your guys.

Also that still doesn't solve the problem that there is no way other than by using a mouse to enter this menu and scroll through it:

Many thanks, I know this issue isn't a high priority but come console launch it really will be as we don't have mouse and keyboard so the UI really needs to be solid.

Also there's no way to filter ships by type, location, distance etc. anymore which is a loss of functionality over Horizons but that's a topic for another day!

Yeah, there are a few places where a mouse is currently required in order to be able to scroll (but just to get the focus into the relevant UI element, no need to click with the mouse).

I suggest confiscating the UI devs' mice and forcing them to use controllers ;)
