Elite: Dangerous Legacy League

This CG may take a while so just decided to pop in with zero Ax weapons and kill a scout and bump a player up a tier...
Image

Yes scouts dont require AX weapons, just takes longer...
Guestimate is 18 billion needed for this CG to end as first screen diagram is linear, second value bar is not linear..

144 contributors. Legacy might be in stasis, but it's not dead yet. :)

Entry for the CG is very Low with only scout kills need...
The bots nuked the CG that failed to reach the new target and replaced it with another AX CG...

So ignore the Time left value the CG has been completed and replaced after a week only...

I have plenty going on right now, I've barely touched Live for the past couple of weeks.

A month or so ago I posted here about an invasion I fended off from what appears to be a PS4 player group near me. Unfortunately that means there is no possibility of instancing with them (and I don't use external tools) and they invaded another system I maintain. I didn't spot the invasion until it was already at 3:0; I won a day taking it to 3:1 but lost the second day I fought & lost so now I have what may be an expansionist PMF that replaced a benign non-native.

They will have had no idea of this, they would just have seen bunch of low traffic systems (because they are the way I want them to be).

So I have a load of work to keep them down in the system they invaded, redirect another expansion that's active for them, and undermine all the systems I can find their faction present in so they can't expand again until I let them.

It's tiring but fun, reminds me of old conflicts & adventures.

If anyone wants to do some missions, gather explo data, tactical trading or bounty hunting/space CZ work or just generally learn a thing or two about manipulating factions please contact me (send me a private message on this forum), I'd be glad of the company :) On PC Legacy I am one of the most active players now, winning or close to the top in the combat, political & exploration squadron leaderboards.

And if you're playing on console, think you recognise the pattern of behaviour I described & want to negotiate & maybe work together instead of being in conflict I'd love to talk to you too.

Excellent story and top notch gameplay, might I add. Good luck with your endeavours commander. :)

Long Live Legacy!

Just saw my first random hollow in a long time. Sent a friendly "hello cmdr" and targeted to see more details. Didn't interdict. Didn't align. Hollow instantly vanished mid travel...

Sad that some cmdrs still feel so skittish, even in Legacy.

I'm not overly surprised by that to be honest. I don't know what PC Legacy is like but certainly on PS practically the only folk left in Open for the last year or two is gankers. I got interdicted flying in my Type-6 by a bloody FDL which of course resulted in my death.

I had one appear on my contact history while I was docked & AFK making a coffee a few days ago (17th Aug). The one before that was June 10th :(

The PS4 faction I'm currently engaged with have expanded away from my territory as I hoped, but not where I expected. I had one (away from me that was at 3.7% but they invaded a closer one that was at 5%. To be fair it probably was the second lowest in range.

I don't think there are any free faction slots around here, all systems have at least 7 factions & I've spent the last few days getting all my non-natives above 10% or so while trying to avoid starting any conflicts or pulling the controlling factions back too much - quite delicate work over the dozen or so systems I currently maintain. Normally they require minimal maintenance because local traffic is now so low ,but it's pretty clear my 'enemy' has been trying to opportunistically set up any invasion targets they can. Of course I had been doing the same but away from my territory ;)

So they have an invasion war to distract them, and with the expansion tax they are close enough to another faction I pushed up that I might be able to start a war for system control (lots & lots of bounties, non-natives often have a bounty source in a nearby system (the one they expanded from in order to be a non-native in the system of interest. Larger factions always do, it's probably how they managed to get so big ;)

So fingers crossed I can get them out of 'my' system but that will probably take a while & then I'll expand in one of my factions to replace the benign non-native I lost.

I'll need to 'manage' their systems with an aim to get them to expand away from me over the next few months, there's plenty of abandoned factions & systems around & hopefully at some point they'll get the message & leave me alone. This is where diplomacy comes in - if I can't communicate directly with them I will need to communicate via the BGS which is much less effective than being able to instance with the enemy but currently the only option i have in-game.

Not been to Deciat recently but founders & the other bubble engineers have all been deserted when I visit them. I went to Khun last night, the traffic report showed 83 ships, most were AspXs & DBXs & I mapped the terraformables there, something I've never felt able to do before. Missing the lack of cross-play more than ever :(

Yeah, recently I've been playing PGA2K23 on my PS5 against a friend playing on Steam so crossplay def possible - would make sense to let ALL Legacy commanders fly in the same instances but we know Frontier will never bother putting any effort into Legacy.

PC Legacy is as good as empty now. But the lack of Odyssey on PS means you're all together in the same version. For better and worse, I suppose.

Someone is enjoying the "meta" gameplay. :)

Yeah, silver linings and all that. To be honest I've lost pretty much all motivation to play for obvious reasons. Never thought I'd end up like this because I have *never sank anything like the time I've sunk into ED into any other game, or ever will. The one thing I would still like to achieve is my Combat Elite.

Don't burn out. Take a break. Or do activities you normally wouldn't. Jump in to solo mode for a while. E: D has so much to offer.

Having said that, I still LOVE firing up ED of an evening, jumping in the Phantom or Annaconda and going to visit some sights in the galaxy. A few weeks back I visited Guardian ruins in towards the centre of the galaxy. Took some screenshots as you do and it was seriously cool getting shots of Guardian stuff with a sky full of stars.
