Elite: Dangerous Legacy League

Yeah, the Thrustmaster - not the best build quality in the world but it's served me well. Got an X52 for the PC which is obviously a nicer stick but as mentioned I'm seriously time sunk into PS.
Doesn't the PSVR 2 work with Elite: Dangerous on playstation? But not quite the same resolution as I recall.

Update: a quick google search suggests no, neither ps4 or 5, sadly.

That does indeed look incredible!!

What sort of PC specs / headset are you talking to run it acceptably?
It's a very subjective question but just to fill in the other end of the spectrum from "you need at least a 3080 and the HP Reverb is great" ... I've got a fairly old PC now with a GTX 1080 card. I have a Thrustmaster Hotas 4 (very similar to the T.FLight X but with allegedly ever so slightly upgraded potentiometers and occasionally available for around £65 if you're lucky) and I just bought myself a Meta Quest 2 for £299. It works perfectly OK in Odyssey (if you're prepared to accept Medium rather than Ultra graphics settings) and would certainly work fine on mostly High settings in legacy. Don't know if that brings it more within your budget range?

Good point. :)

The plot thickens... Potentially yes that does make it more realistic. Food for thought. I'd never really thought about going VR until it was brought up in this thread but the seed has definitely been sowed now.

It's not for everyone, but it's a game changer if you like it. I can never go back. You do lose some resolution compared to flat screens, but the immersion is incredible.

Does anyone have recommendations for a "Goldilocks" system to make a new home? Maybe even a gathering spot for Legacy commanders?

Wishlist:
  • Not too big (traveling distances)
  • A nice asteroid field or 2 for mining
  • An Interstellar Factor
  • Reasonably assorted outfitting
  • All 3 material traders not too far away
  • Reasonably central in regards to Engineers
There are probably more conveniences, that I have forgotten about right now. Feel free to add more.

I've been living in Gende for some time, but would like a more convenient "Goldilocks" hub area.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at 61 Virginis.

It has Metallic & Metal Rich rings, an Interstellar factor, several landable planets including two over 4G. The main (large) station is a bit fiddly to approach because it closely orbits a high-G planet but it's close to the entry star (~100Ls).
It has several RESs including a haz RES for bounty hunting/mining too.

61V is just beyond the border of my territory, it's not one I have an interest in but I run missions there fairly regularly & it's not controlled by a large faction or power; AFAIK it's controlling faction is abandoned in Legacy.

Outfitting isn't great but Founders is ~45ly away, not sure there is really anywhere that's truly convenient for all the bubble engineers but it's pretty central to the bubble & not stuffed full of carriers.

There's no carrier admin or vendor close by but all the rest of the services are within 20ly or so, there's a (AFAIK pristine) trit mining icy ring in unpopulated Fianna ~16ly away and a pretty reliable Trit supply from a distant but large pad spacedock in Zavijah ~17ly away.

Of course I'm only suggesting it because it's not far from me & I have lived round here for best part of a decade now so I'm familiar with the region but it does tick most of your boxes.

This sounds awesome! Thanks, Riverside. I will definitely give it a look next time I'm in game. I don't do any faction or power work. Usually just roam the asteroid fields in my trusted Krait.

I don't have access to Founders World. Only a beta backer and haven't made it to Elite rank in anything. Probably never will. :) But most of my boats are pretty well equipped, so it's not really a deal breaker.

There's a couple of high-techs with usually great outfitting not far away, but not with all the other stuff in one system.

The only thing is it its quite far away, about 150ly or so from sol (i think). its firmly in the top half. There are many if's a small hop away.

Also i had no idea this was the home of the pmf called "rock rats". Around the 2.x patches, it was back in the years when i had turned attention to the rocks, and for a few weeks also had the sandbox mission to find the home system.. having peak places to mine was the key requirement.

I found chertan of course (helped by a long forgotten eddb query). I was there every day for about 6-9 months, zero traffic in the system apart from me. So i "claimed" it as my own. Then suddenly, only on the beta of the mapping patch, did i find out that apparently there was players in that system with some intent to steal my planet. I practiced exactly what i was going to do :) I did leave some of the gas giants for the actual pmf on reflection because its nice to be nice etc, and i had other landmarks planned to go tag. Fun days.

The system itself is a treat, well worth a visit at least once (edit: make sure to fly to the coriolis, and map the rings on that planet to see if it has the hotspots you're after). The only problem is its an industrial economy, so has a pretty boring mission board, but the outfitting is good.

Excellent! Thanks. :) I will definitely give Chertan a visit too.

The horders still end the legacy AX CG on the first day... for 6 weeks in a row as fdev are not moving the location...

This is crazy! TWO contributors? Wow... And I don't even get to see the event before it's gone again. :D

I consider this a broken game mechanic. Luckily CGs aren't my bread and butter, but they were supposed to gather the community, not two players...

Unless of course the community is two players...

I don't see how 2 players can get 1.8 billion each in Thargoid kill bonds in just a few hours without some type of hack.
I can kill Hydras and Medusas with the best of them but it is a serious time sink to perform.

Fly Safe
