Elite: Dangerous Legacy League

I guess hoarding was probably the answer.
I hoarded 500 million the other week and handed it over to get top 10. 1.8 billion can be got over a few days in Asterope where I live when not out in the black.
But if only a few days 1.8 billion is still some serious hours Thargoid killing.

You have every thursday to hand them in no matter When they're earned. The CGS run thursday to thursday only take 4 players to alternate hand ins...
You can Gank a cyclops for 8 million in seconds with AX rockets and Guardian, so thats only 500 cyclops if there not doiung higher class ganking in wings... each kill is shared by a wing so that is only 125 each... from now till next thursday...

Just a quick idea... for the people upset by steam making odd the default..

Pretty much everyone has frontier accounts? Just log into frontierstore.net (if you're lucky enough to find a browser that works), download the frontier launcher.. which just installs the launcher without any games? Im just doing this myself, and there's no indication of it downloading anything without me telling it to.

You can also link your steam account to this and still use your steam wallet if that's interesting.

Also.. i guess it doesn't hurt to speculate in 2023, but i bet if you didn't mind jumping in and out, you could use one steam purchase of odd with multiple vanilla frontier accounts, until they caught on or maybe it doesn't work already? I used to share a wallet from one steam account to multiple frontier accounts and you could change instantly...

Looks like they've updated the launcher at some point.. if it wasn't clunky id say it looked good. Also don't ask.

Steam purchases after April (?) 2019 can not be run on the stand-alone launcher - from that point on, all Steam purchases were "non-CD Key" so need to be launched via a Steam login.

Steam purchases before that do have CD-Keys and can be run without using Steam.

(BTW - everyone of course has a Frontier account, it is necessary.)

As the other fellow said, this doesn't work for many of us.

But, I can always play ED Legacy, Odyssey-free, by firing it up on PS4. Of course that means legacy graphics (no mods, crappy shadows) and legacy butt leather..

Really, surely everyone in this thread was pre 2019...?? I know its a bit of a selfish / privileged work around, but beats the default.

ps. Its also worth trying odd again.. since last i tried, performance has improved one more.. its practically playable on a 1080ti at ultra with just the shadows reduced. Last time i tried, i was very, very generously giving a pass to an experience that didn't.. it was tolerated. As of october 23, the only place i notice it is in concourses, and even then not so much. The tutorial torture test is a unconditional pass.

So much so.. that i can easily just handwave 98% of odd content as "not for me", its no longer broken. It doesn't trigger. A complete waste sure, but so is much of elite.

There's only one thing that still is braking the camel... something i still can't get over, even with full fps while boosting, all the new bells and whistles etc.... the planet tech is woeful. Its a fail, its worse. I can't accept it (yet??), its so poor its distracting and an objective failure.

I'm going to say it. The decision to not make odd planet tech just a new subset of planets, instead replacing all landable planets, single handledly has destroyed the game. Its that bad. If it was optional.. or additive, i could and would have not said anything to allow for choice. Doom as a complete replacement. I can only guess it was some marketing person wanting odd content available everywhere and to have the usual bonus generating metrics that the new expansion is widely used. Why not just do what they did for horizons? The gas giants are still there? The texture planets are still there... not changed... brown dwarfs.. same...

Why put myself through evaluating the agonising downgrades? Carrier interiors. Its the only game left for me...

Logged in this morning to a notification that the squadron I'm in has earned some awards again (I'm the only active member in Legacy):

Gold in Combat - I've been doing a lot of bounty hunting with a KWS, selling the stuff I gather tactically to push non-natives up in systems controlled by a faction I want to pull back or more often, selling any native faction bounties locally to pull non-native (usually large) factions back to test for player activity. Most large factions seem to have maintained a small presence & I see expansion states for some so I am investigating & redirecting any expansions that potentially infringe on my territory.

Gold in Exploration - I have been gathering and selling around 40-50m per week, mostly selling up to 10m per day to bolster station owning factions in systems when a conflict ends. I've not been actively contesting many conflicts recently although I've started plenty ;), which explains the last notification below:

Bronze in Political - I think this one measures war & election participation & as mentioned above I've not actively participated in many just set them up & watched for activity.

As far as my ongoing conflict with the PS4 supported PMF faction that invaded one of my systems is concerned it's still ongoing & has settled into a bit of a stalemate where I can't get them out of 'my' system but I can keep them occupied enough that they haven't made any progress either and I've integrated their aggressive activity when they are put into conflict with another faction to make some useful progress against some of my now largely inactive traditional enemies (large PMFs). Hopefully they will eventually realise their time is better spent expanding into the many abandoned systems controlled by the large factions & not continue to waste their time on the ones I defend.

I've been visited by a few players looking for a bit of BGS action, it's always nice to make a friend thank you! I'm still spending most of my time alone though, keeping myself busy looking for signs of (most likely console) player activity and helping them to achieve whatever it is I think they are trying to do where it doesn't conflict with something I want.

The way I figure, there is only one way I can communicate with console Cmdrs in-game, and that's to park my carrier somewhere I think they will see it & rename it to convey some info. I only have that 23 character string to communicate by so I've been thinking of short messages I could use. Any suggestions?

Nah. Odyssey is a hard pass for me. Being a dedicated VR pilot, Odyssey has nothing to offer me. It has worse PC performance, glitchy graphics and tacked on mediocre on-foot gameplay. Legacy is the pinnacle of Elite: Dangerous. :)

Well, what is it that you want to convey?... :)

Oh, and thanks for the system recommendations by the way, guys! I went and had a look at both, and though they were both quite interesting (the station between the planet and the asteroid belts was a nice touch), I guess I realised that I had gotten quite attached to "my" little system.

There's no place like home... :)

Generally that it would be better to respect actively maintained systems & work together than be in conflict when there are so many abandoned systems around.

Realistically I'd be happy to get an invite to their discord channel or something since there's no way to negotiate a cross-platform treaty in-game.

Mostly it's just a challenge to mull over what I could say with 23 characters ;)

I do not recommend any of the following....

WhatCanISayWith23Chara

PMFCanSuckMyLaserBeams

MyDiscordIsDiscordName

ConsolePeasantsMustDie

PMF I Love You Call Me

On more serious note, have you tried searching their name here on the forums, Inara, social media or google?
There's a reasonable chance they've posted a disord link somewhere online.

The only part of this I disagree with is the word "is" in the last sentence. For me it's "was". Not that I'm right and you're wrong, I'm not saying that at all. It's just a personal preference (Horizon's was at its pinnacle for me during the Interstellar Initiatives and Borann 2 "community goal").

I always question the use of MMO and Elite. In my own opinion, I couldn't play PS or PC the squadron's were split even my friends on PC couldn't land on my FC . The BGS could just be NPC's for the majority of players. To get together with friends was a hit and miss and yes I set up my router ( didn't need to do it with COD NMS who even allow crossplay).
And we all know that legacy has no new content or narrative for 2+ years. They should really be asked to change advertising.
