These videos are not really useful. By informative video it should be 1. you talk and describe the topic, situation. 2. Show footage and images related to that. Check that the video and voice audio is loud enough. It shouldn't be 6 minutes of boring travel time to a location.
The image in the thumb nail is the system that mayes was in so kind of is related to mayes, as is all of the imagery as it is also set in the same system that mayes is located. Nothing I use is unrelated travel time from another playthough. The travel time and filler for the video is just that. I'm not currently at the stage where I am commencing my more extensive videos in regards to the history. These videos are to document the sites of the inra bases from the first war. The logs are about 1 minute play time so if I just play the logs it will be a 1 minute video. By narrating over the logs I don't feel like I will be adding anything to it, they in themselves are self explanatory.
Audio levels I'll take that on board. Thank you.
If what I make is not for you then I wish you well and hope you find something more useful to your tastes.
Check for example ObsidianAnt's videos. He made a video about the Empire, Alliance etc. Those are much better. Short intro then describe the topic with interesting visuals.
Plans to narrate over the lore videos that require me to speak about each subject are planed but as I'm covering the first thargoid war sites I don't need to narrate over the logs. Again thank you for your feedback. It is all a learning process and I have been uploading for under a month so im sure more complex techniques will be used as I grow.
Obsidian ant has been uploading for many years now. We all have to start somewhere.
Video's explaining what lore there is would be great, regardless of where they take place. I think the larger Elite community has no clue as to any storyline that may exist, some canonn, some not, some from books others have written. Putting the pieces together in a narrative the most ardent Eliter's will buy is going to be the hard part. Not just making stuff up, but following the narrative laid out by Drew Wager, Robert Holdstock (now deceased), Ian Bell and David Braben.
I was reading through some of the threads on Raxxla and came across a couple that may interest you, as far as making videos on Elite lore is concerned.
I'm not sure how many of you have read Drew Wagar's latest book Elite: Premonition. The following will be a mild spoiler if you haven't. It would be very nice to hear directly from Drew on this particular point so we can know for a fact if the intention of Premonition was to basically erase...
Delivery missions to Lave 2 being offered. Bugs reported her https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/346797-Lave-2-permit-vs-missions. Could be indication of permit possible, or just a bug. Inclined to think the latter. Future QA response on bug might indicate which. Could not find...

In conclusion, any community education on Elite lore, from you making videos to any other source material being brought up in video's would further the game narrative for all.
It would have been nice if Frontier would have included some sort of a video when the game starts, back when the game was first released to give players a primer on what the story line and narrative is. Hitting any key would end the video and bring you to the main menu. Oh well, they didn't, but they should have.
So far I have read up about the lens of talmor and the origins of raxxla being an ancient world found by a reptilian race, the oslir raxxla. (kind of heard of this before with Robert holdstock's) art. As far as lore goes I already know that TDW is semi Canon to the point of the game having raxxla in it (apparently) and have read the dark wheel.
Cornflux, formedine sites where always on the cards as was the far god sites and the thargoid abductions. I kind of want to stick to discoverable locations when it comes to exploring that side of the lore with visitations, in hindsight I accept making fan fiction is daft. I do plan on exploring the other side of things but i think drew can do that much better than myself in his lore tour and the quest for raxxla although I guess it wouldn't hurt to create a narrative chrono of events from events from each book.
It would be my suggestion that you reach out to those folks who have written lore for Elite, those who participate on this forum directly, like @Jaiotu in my previous post "spoilers" who speaks as if he knows Ian Bell personally and has spoken with him on the subject. As well, it seems that @drew is also reachable here on this forum and may be of some help. As I stated earlier, getting ardent Eliter's to buy into your version of lore, which ever parts you may make into videos, is going to be critical. Before I say this, I need to quote you, so forgive this, " I'll have a word with David next time I see him in Tescos. If he lifts the restraining order." Given this statement, you may find it difficult to garner participation from the folks I mention, if the primary author of Elite is not on board with your efforts. I would hate to see your videos meet with controversy from the makers of Elite and end before they really get off the ground. Given your vision, it may be wise to seek some formal acknowledgement from Frontier, or at least DB.
I very much welcome the help maylor. I will pm you my steam details if that is what you have. Will be nice to meet like minded people who share the same passion as me even though my knowledge is not at the levels of some of the more senior members on the forum.
I have family that live in sugarland/houston/vermount so I have connections to the old thirteen colonies myself.
II get it with the humour though most people outside of Britain don't get us, but hey ho that's what makes us US.
You might want to try such British staples in comedy as brookside or eldorado. Such pillars in the British comedy psyche .
Drew PM'ed me with his interest in lore videos. He is also doing some lore streaming now. This may be an opportunity to gather some useful info for your videos and possibly collaborate.
Honestly malor the best thing I can do right now is practice my techniques, read the lore in more detail and finish whay I have committed on this forum. For a channel roughly a week old my traction is quite promising and I need to continue that. As much as drew is a good guy and a good source for the lore, his videos are not till April so if I wait till then to learn from him then it will slow down my traction. Already reached out to him myself to no joy so all I can do is carry on.
Not just lore strictly speaking but lore included as the main source. Leutin after all used to be an arma video maker. My empire video is coming along nicely and should be available next week.
