Man, you have to laugh at people saying Steam and Steam Keys aren't a big deal... you'd think that more than 2230 posts and 150 pages of thread in less than 48h would be clue enough? And that's just this thread right here, there's more of them; on the Steam forums there's another thread nearly as big as this one.

Nobody doubts that some guys don't care about Steam, to each their own, it's all good! But if you anybody still needed any proof that most gamers these days do value Steam... there you go. :)

What's amazing is who ever made the call is apparently oblivious to this.

it would be warranted if what you get from the steam version was a bypass of the frontier launcher but its not, your just launching the same launcher 'but i wanted to write a witty 11/10 review on steam', hardly makes it whine worthy. before it was 'it'll never go on steam' now it is all hell breaks loose over launcherception.

you know if i get a steam key emailed to me, i'm not going to add it to steam. because i can launch the game just fine from its already existing shortcut, if i want to talk to my steam buds i can keep steam in the back ground.

steam is great for games without launchers, or with steam workshop integration, for everything else its meh.

Man in hat tells woman on internet what it's like to be a woman on the internet

I told her what it was like to be a human being on the internet, the difference between you and myself is: I openly accept that sexism, misogyny, and misandry exist in the world. You seem to believe it only exists for one group of people. I was simply pointing out she was having a human experience rather than primarily a female one. I require empirical data before I make brash generalizations about a group of people or a place. For instance, I realize that "fedora shaming" which is what you are participating in is actually a studied phenomenon. If she had said sexual harassment I would have been inclined to agree with her, however she simply said harassment, funnily enough you have proven my point by making a harassing statement towards me. If I am being harassed I must be a woman right?

Just for the record before this gets blown out of proportion I am one of the 3 ALLY teachers on my campus. I know a thing or two about discrimination and harassment. I also know a thing or two about making broad general statements based on your (cis)gender or orientation. What I said wasn't sexist it was a fact. If you're on the internet you better expect to be harassed regardless of your (cis)gender.

BOT - I still think we should be given the option to have a steam key.

Have to ask : How is this thread any different than your "limited time skins" thread?

Yeah, more people are upset about this.

This is just another example of how out of touch Frontier is with the present gaming environment. Stuck in '84, always will be.

They are game development house crunching 2 - 3 critically acclaimed games for various platforms each year, while having healthy profit. They just cashed in around 18k copies of ED from Steam.

I think they are doing pretty well.

Elite Dangerous as a real Steam game lets us:
Record our play time.
Take screenshots and upload them.
Upload videos.
Upload art.
Live Stream ourselves playing.
Write a player review.
Invite Steam friends to join out game.

I bought this game a bit over a month ago from the main Front site because Front said it was not coming to Steam, but now BAM, here it is. o_O

720K GBP before GabeN's cut - not shabby for a weekend

Oh boy, if you thought the previous OPEN vs SOLO threadnaught was bad, just wait until thousands of steam users realise how the current system works.
Also Elite: dangerous is currently tagged as an MMO on steam...
