It's access to the Alpha build.

I've preordered the version with Alpha access, mostly because at the rate FD puts out info about Odyssey, playing the Alpha version seems to be the only way to finally find out about all the new the stuff we'll be able to do in Odyssey before it's release.

Logged on forums (after being lost in space for 3 yrs) just to say thanks to Frontier devs.

Elite already was one of the best space-sim games , and this expansion brings it on absolute new level. (looking forward to the next big step, when we'll be able to land on earthlikes)

My two cents worth is so far Odyssey looks nice but if I wanted to be playing a FPS I would already be playing a FPS.

However it seems to be a highly tactical FPS with exceptional special effects.

We will see when it's released but it's a possibility that I won't play much of it. If the space portion of it is good I will be fine with it. Just in case I wonder if you will be able to just play the Horizons part of it?

In all cases you get the new technology for planets.

I too was confused by this. So lately I installed Elite through steam also. So now I have two base installs of Elite. However, steam sometimes does go down, so it is useful to have the non-steam version of Elite installed. I'm so confused and this is going offtopic.

I had purchased ED both on Steam and Oculus (didn't mind, saw it as a contribution to support the game). I uninstalled the Oculus version a while ago but when I start the SteamVR version, Oculus Home will also be triggered. Not quite clear to me why. Doesn't matter if I do so with the Reverb G2 or Pimax 8KX, same behaviour with both headsets.

Weird. And stupid, because it will eat up valuable resources for no good reason.
