That might be just a promo, not an actual gameplay. Or the source of light might be artificial (ship or base). That's not the night side, its in sunlight on an airless planet.
Ha ha.That might be just a promo.

Or it could be exactly what it looks like - a Cmdr walking on an airless planet.....That might be just a promo, not an actual gameplay (or a gameplay at the early stage of development, when there was no air). Or the source of light might be artificial (ship or base).
If your assertion begins and ends with the thumbnail for a trailer, then AWWE HECK YEAH you’re guessing. If the devs have made a statement confirming that we’ll be able to walk around on all existing landable planets, or some subset thereof; then (and only then) we’ve got something.
Actually, I was being sarcastic. If your assertion begins and ends with the thumbnail for a trailer, then AWWE HECK YEAH you’re guessing. If the devs have made a statement confirming that we’ll be able to walk around on all existing landable planets, or some subset thereof; then (and only then) we’ve got something.
They have to make a statement to confirm such a basic feature? Sheesh...![]()
That seems almost like a no-brainer, and has been the same case for Horizons. If you own Horizons, you can see people in the base-game even if they don't own Horizons, and they can see you. They just can't access the content, but they can see all the Horizons assets in space, they can see your Holo-Me, and so forth. Seems obvious that a Horizon player can meet an Odyssey player in the same instance considering how combined arms is such a big aspect of the expansion.Yes they do, because it's the easiest way to separate Horizons and Odyssey players and deal with the question: will a Horizon player in SRV be able to meet an Odyssey player on foot.

Will a Horizons user on a SRV be able to meet an Odyssey user on foot on a planet with no atmosphere?
We are looking at this at the moment - more to follow soon.
Again, that might be just an early stage of development, when no atmospheres were implemented. What was going on here, in this in-game footage? Even if it's just Odyssey players and the playerbase is split between Horizons and Odyssey, regardless, this is an airless planet with people walking.
Isn't it?

Nah, you don't believe that.Again, that might be just an early stage of development, when no atmospheres were implemented.
That's the problem - I don't want to BELIEVE in things, I just want to have a clear answer. Seriously - I'll buy Odyssey no mater what, but again - this is a question I'd totally ask if I was given a chance.Nah, you don't believe that.
Whether or not you play Horizons or play the base-game, it doesn't matter. Everyone has the same assets for models, sounds, you name it, loaded on their PC. Horizons could be considered like a key to the door, without the key you can see the door and it's physically there, but you can't open it. With the key, you can open the door and step inside. The same can be said for Odyssey. Elite, with Horizons being merged (and with that being said, why do you think they merged the base-game?) is now just Elite, so consider Odyssey as the new Horizons. It will most likely function the same as it did back when Horizons and Elite were separate.Well, it's obviously NOT a no-brainer, since:
I wasn't talking about instances, i.e. if an Elite Player can meet Horizons Player in space (because in space they both are playing Elite, NOT Horizons). So: yes, two players can meet each other on airless planets when they both are in SRVs, even if one of them has Odyssey, because, basically, both are playing Horizons.
This is not the case as very clearly in the gameplay reveal trailer, there are other planets with atmospheres. Why have such a disparity in footage? It is all new footage we haven't seen so far, and it's safe to say that it was recorded rather recently specifically for the trailer due to that.Again, that might be just an early stage of development, when no atmospheres were implemented.

Also, remember that not only is the dev-team busy, but the community managers are too. So, by them saying "We're looking into it" might just be that they're trying to get an answer. Don't take everything at face-value.

Personally, I respect your defence but I think there are better questions to be asked in the AMA, rather than questions like this. It just doesn't make sense.

Maybe we'll see an answer to it in the next Q&A post they're supposed to post. But, as I said, they still need to take time out to go and ask the (busy) dev-team questions, so I can see a simple question slipping quite easily and not being answered. Regardless, my point still stands as I feel like this is a simple question that can be answered based off conjecture from the multiple Odyssey articles, dev-diaries and trailers. I suppose only a proper answer from FDev will satisfy you, but that's fine as well. We shall wait and see until the next Q&A post! So, again: why are they reluctant to answer this simple question:
I mean - there isn't a simpler question, isn't it?
