Had an old boss who was a piece of work decades ago. Remember the little newsletters you got in your physical mailbox, and immediately dump them?

He'd shaft everyone by putting notices in them, and later claiming he's used official channels. Like newspapers used to bury articles in the back pages.

This is exactly why forums have rules like locking posts and/or user-role locked subforums, and exactly why you have volunteer moderators to cull inappropriate / standards-breaching posts. You have tools at your disposal that can help automate or delegate so you, and Zac, and Arthur can get back to being community managers and not have to concentrate so much on pouring your limited time into firefighting complaints that are snowballing because they're unfocussed in location and therefore too numerous to acknowledge.

Edit: I know my posts come across as dry. I do appreciate your time and involvement with the community, and although it may seem like I'm being... I dunno, gittish, it's not intentional. Ex-programmer is specific. Repeatedly.

So the mods already do a great job of moderating. Absolutely. Love them. We also do use the lock post thing, totally - all know how it works.

Thing is if we brought in (what I consider) limitations further with automations/allowing some to do some things and others to do other things - that just feels a bit like it's asking for trouble.
I don't actually want to take away from us actively being involved with you, talking to you as people, being here candidly getting stuck in with responses, dragging you out of trouble in game - you'd end up being treated to an experience held by robots, which I personally don't see that as an improvement at all, even if it brings structure.

I'm sticking to this scuffle to find the ideal balance if it takes even MORE coffee and biscuits to figure out what the majority will accept from us all, and that's that ;) Haha.

Sounds like a nightmare Ralph.
Luckily we're definitely not trying to 'shaft anyone'. We'll keep listening and doing things better.

The community schedule lists stuff that is going to happen over the week. The last two community schedules included update 3 and 4.
If you are waiting for an update and you are not clicking on the announcements for this week, YOU are to blame. Nobody else.
I am getting sick and tired of all the entitled whining.

PS
Sorry Northpin, I am in a bad mood today. Not necessarily your entitled whining by the way ;)

Whining has a certain charm

Yes, they forgot to update this thread. Big deal. I am sure you never made any little mistakes in your entire life. I suggest the complete CM team gets replaced.

IMO, You are focusing your anger in the wrong direction.
After all, i do have 2 EDO preordered, on both Steam and Epic, and 5 weeks after launch i still cannot dual-log them due to abysmal performance (12-15 fps on each). While i could do that in Horizons with 45+ fps on each client

Also, It's not about forgetting... it seems that it was not even considered to update the dedicated Roadmap thread with the latest changes to the... surprise... the Roadmap

Hopefully that will change and the info will be ferried in a timely manner in the future.

It was there on Monday, the edit was probably about something else.

Yes, you are right. As I said in the PS, I am sorry. I just think the 'severity' of the problem doesn't justify the hostility on the last page. But that's not about you.

I think they should've edited the 'roadmap' immediately after the stream. Not just that, they should've also started a new thread about the delay. Not everyone constantly checks if some old information got edited.

He was a nightmare. When he finally left, there was a contest for who could shoot his typewriter.

I won. I got to use an M2 Browning. Emptied the box mag. :)

Being in the US military sometimes has perks.

Good luck with the CM job. You seem to be a nice person.

The fact that the correction was postponed is a good thing. But can we know the list of fixes that was planned for the 24th date, so that we can compare it with the new list?

Indeed all the staff, (that interact with us mortals) seem lovely (even Arthur) but I suspect that they are all stuck with fighting issues both public and private about the game, I do not envy their workloads, and while it is fair to say that I have been openly critical, it is simply because I care about the game

It'd be tighter and more formal for sure. Yeah, I agree it might feel less 'friendly' and/or (from your perspective) less at grass roots (which is a good place to have your finger on the pulse). But right now, with the way development/deployment of Odyssey currently is and the way the community are reacting to it (those steam reviews and concurrent users aren't really improving), tighter and more formal (for a bit, if not ongoing for patch notes / forward plans) might be what the doctor ordered.

Edit: It also makes your managment of presented information way, way easier as you can retire/unpin obsolete posts from the annoucements without necessarily killing the discussion which would be going on in a separate (mirror/parallel) forum. If you have more than 3 or 4 pinned posts, something is up with the organisation of things.

The fact that the correction was postponed is a good thing. But can we know the list of fixes that was planned for the 24th date, so that we can compare it with the new list?

I'm afraid it's not that easy with game dev, Serg and I don't really know how that would benefit you actually. Things you intend on fixing get worked on, if you add more plans for other fixes then they might (usually do) have a knock on to the previous stuff being fixed which could put those things at risk of change, which might alter the fix to those - you can't just go "FIXED! THAT'S IN!" and lock it off - everything touches everything, it's incredible.

Its already been explained a few times now that the list is fluid because it's never clear until the point of commit which fixes are fit to make it into the final build. Furthermore, no dev is going to let you check their homework like this, it's counterproductive and adds no value.

We`ll get what we're given - you`ll get to make a qualitative judgement (and provide feedback) on that soon enough.

I`d suggest asking for the team to consider adding an update 6, determined based on the volume of outstanding issues remaining after update 5 is released - that would be a far better request to be putting forward.

Hello CMs, a small request but would it be possible to unpin some of these older or less important news posts? It's really tricky trying to find this information and when all I can see are pinned posts it kind of defeats their purpose.View attachment 243787

I'm gunna poke Paul and see if he can get his sweeping brush out on that - totally agree :) Thanks
