Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 2.01

I recommend... take down the server, take down Odyssey, refund the people, roll back to Horizion only and release Odyssey 2022 - after fixing
the 5.521.124 Bugs... this update show is pure comedy... and of course not a good work. Sorry...

Would be the best..
I agree in principle. But they'd have to refuse a refund because money. Therefore I'd amend your idea to rolling back to Horizons and running Odyssey as an official beta for any of the people who want to persevere with it and help playtest it. I'd just accept that I've pre-ordered something a year in advance.

I find attempting to play the game in this brittle state where I don't know whether the next update is going to stop the game working is actually quite stressful so I'm not taking on any missions and I'm steering clear of using any of my ships which I don't want to risk losing to some random bug. Basically I don't feel I can try to play any of the Odyssey content.

Proper play testing is a focused thing (play testers are given specific things to work on - they don't really get to play the game per se) and at the moment they'll just be getting swamped with complaints rather than uniformly constructive feedback. I also suspect the fixes could happen much quicker if they didn't have to try to keep the whole of Odyssey fully functional while they tinker with it.

They can release Odyssey in 2030 for all I care - I just want my enjoyable relaxing experience back. Selfish, I know, but that's how I feel about it.

If tomorrow's roadmap shows that they expect to have the game 100% fixed within a couple of weeks then I'll take all of this back and eat my hat of course. Now excuse me while I go investigate the pig I saw flying past my window.

This 2.01 patch definitely did something - I'm running full 60fps on an outpost, which is nuts as I got as low as 20fps before this patch. Currently on my way to a settlement to see what the performance is like over there.

Huge props to the whole Elite Dev Team for the continuing improvements! \o/

Welp, I see this update broke Horizons for me. I gave up on Odyssey because it's an absolute mess, then discovered that Odyssey broke Horizons too. They finally got that fixed about 4 days later, now this update has broken it again. Tells me servers are offline, and in the rare instance I find that the servers are online, like 8 seconds into playing I'm attacked by an Orange Sidewinder out of nowhere.

Refund all the money. What a mess. Every patch fixes one thing and breaks five more.

I'm not sure about the 1:5 ratio but generally speaking patches do tend to break some things.

That being said my hired crewmate still hasn't come back.

You know darn well that the ratio of fixes to breakages is far beyond ridiculous for FDev. For most patches I've ever downloaded for other games, they usually accidentally break anywhere between 0 to 1 thing.

With FDev, their patches tend to break as many things as they fix almost every time. Do not hand wave that away as "it's normal for games."

Well its definetly par the course with Microsoft Simulator, after each and every patch (and there have been 10 in shy of 1 year since lauch) either the thing they said was fixed isn't fixed at all and several other things completely different is broken. Other broken things still remain broken. Performance optimizations are still being worked on.

yay you fixed the crotch panel

but you also introduced a bug where accessing computers on foot, scrolling through the building types sometimes has a black box instead of the name of the building

so, maxed out my assets capacity, trying to barter things away, but even tho I am selecting items to barter it wont let me have the new item since my assets are full - have to sell assets before I can barter them

Thank you for the great efforts!

In my case (Intel Core i7-6700K 8 x 4 Ghz, 16 GB, GeForce 1070) it runs great (settings mainly at high):
  • 60 FPS in social hubs on stations
  • 60 FPS in space
  • 40-50 FPS in large settlements with all fancy FX on
Great game! Please, keep it going!

Yesterday II had to walk away after yet another CTD and graphical issues. Today I log in, and again CTD. Grrr. But at least today my galaxy is properly displaying.

I see after another update game breaking bugs still there, fps drops still there. Hello frontier can you please fix those issues first before dealing with the utterly rubbish ui you have designed? chimpanzees can do a better job with a graphical interface. Sorry the added salt, im sure your all hard at work all 2 of you bug fixing problem finding etc etc.

just did 4 foot mission successfully yay
3 where clear scavengers from sites, 2 went smoothly, 1 I got a fine from shooting something with my SRV while shooting at scavs
4th was interesting - recovering goods from a hidden cache which turned out to be some markers POI on the planet.

That was a interesting change of a mission, cargo containers to force open (like modern shipping containers) 2 locked containers outside (one which was unreachable due to being in the ground) and a SRV to loot.

FPS wise, space is still 60fps, coming into the abandoned sites FPS tanked to below 25fps, but stabilised to 30-40 fps - playable but not great, but looking at the on foot mission board on the station its 30fps - thats just the mission board and a wall with some lights reflecting and now its dropping to 25FPS as I type this.

I am getting long delays transitioning from space to planet, to SRV, to foot and back but that is probably my internet atm.

A good start, but a long way to go

Finally, doing those 4 missions, about 3 hours of time got me a grand total of... 24 ARX 🤦‍♂️ For that amount of time doing bounty hunts I would have got 4-6 times as many ARX and a ton more credits than what I ended up with - time is money

I just wonder why my frame per second in settlements dropped with 10-20 with this update. (no fires, no NPCs, just empty settlement) My FPS dropped from stable 50-55 to messy 15-65 which is even more annoying because at moments it looks like the game freezes.
