Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 7 Notes

In anarchy factions you dont get punished for comitting crimes, so that is where people go to commit them. It means that if the grind for EDO is considered illegal, people will exclusively roflstomp anarchy settlements. They already did for many things, this just makes it worse. if that is what is happening, still not 100% sure what the patchnotes really mean. :)
Think so? I was getting most of my data from reactivation missions, not attacking pirate bases. Hopefully that'll be easier now there should be more of them.

thanks for putting it all together sally, that's a well-written list

@update

but hey, if i can play above 30 inside a starport ill be less miserable (for the lack of a better word), which is a nice thing

here's hoping for update 8, hopefully framerate(and other related) issues will be sorted out after 5 or 6 months

now let's do another free QA test so 7.1 can be ironed out and released, good luck everyone

I'm getting 10+fps gains in the two large concourses I visit daily. The large ag station and large extraction station - both were 45 fps on average moving around on foot, and now they're 60 with occasional dips to 58.

Here's the same station, same PC, same graphics settings with update 6 on the left, update 7 on the right. I call that a major win.

Also the brief pause when passing through the mailslot seems to have gone?
FPS increase is great but I can spot like 3 differences between interiors... Newer ads are all the same, no plant and ugly looking metal on the fence. I can't actually say for real that I like newer version more...
EDIT: so maybe removing plants gave more FPS? :D

Hi Sally, thanks for those patch notes! and the patch itself! Would it be possible for you to elaborate on this and post for example a table with faction states and the corresponding mission types that should be more or less of for that state?
Oh gosh, errrrrrrrm, I can have a bit of a think how to help with this once I've got my head out of the initial deployment stuff coming in :)
Will crack down on helping people with issues first, then I'll get to the more info support if thats okies o7

Can you explain how it puts pressure on them? I genuinely don't know and want to understand.

People spam anarchy settlements for Odyssey progression because there's no C&P / Notoriety inconvenience. Also a lot of Odyssey mission content targets anarchies specifically. Odyssey was catastrophic for pirate and anarchy factions - and still is. There are multiple threads about it, but iirc the total number of anarchy systems is down from ~1500 pre-Odyssey to ~500 now, and still falling.

I'm looking forward to enjoying all these improvements, and am particularly hopeful that the mission type tweaks will make finding certain mission types a little more predictable (I'm currently on the hunt for covert thefts and heists).

A question about this:
  • AI in a settlement will now register a crime if they see a player transferring data.
How do they 'see' a data transfer? Surely just milling around near a data gubbins isn't enough to incriminate the player. Do AIs have Matrix vision or something?

  • Map UI - The speed of map panning when in VR mode has been increased.
Thank you!

And with the paint jobs supposedly looking correct again with this update & the lighting fixes the past months, I'm more interested in logging in to play again for the first time since June.
Hopefully VR framerates aren't still tanked?

That's one loooooong list...
I hope dowmloading data being a crime won't be too problematic!

Should be able to start the download when not under observation, then crouch behind cover while it proceeds.

Until recently I thought all downloading led to on-the-spot execution so it's not much of a gameplay change to me.
