I have seen hundreds of same questions answered by same answers and as i wanted to make a guide for ED in gamma anyways here's my guide (it's in alpha stage now).

I used all information i could find on forums (thank you guys!) and i hope this piece of information currently will be good guide for new pilot's and even maybe some advanced ones can find something interesting there.

Download from Mediafire

You can view and/or download it here.
I will update it when ships and other assets will be introduced into the game and upload to same location with more information and topics, so this link wont change. enjoy :)

And anyone of you feeling the need to share your thoughts and ideas about ED with everybody - there are many ways to do just that:
1) correct any mistakes or provide with more accurate or new information, updates etc. (please just post here the page Nr. and what i should correct or what i should add);
2) give me more Useful Links to add;
3) give ideas for new topics to cover;
4) write a topic and submit it (please contact me before writing to discuss the format :)
5) test and check in game assets and feed with all the data we might find useful. (But that should be done after gamma stage stars - as all that will change until then, that's why most numbers - prices, weapon damage etc. i included just for illustration.)
6) any ideas are welcomed!
thanks ;)

p.s. currently i am looking for someone who could write about setting up different input devices for ED, so if there is anyone please do msg me :)

very, very nice work. Thank you :smilie:
Cheers Cmdr

What a wonderful and complete guide - thanks so much for creating it. I'm certain that a lot of commanders will find this to be truly excellent documentation. Looking forward to consume this on my tablet tonight!

Brilliant work.

So much work has gone into producing this guide to Elite. Much respect.

thank you. it was as much work as it was fun ;)

and i bet it will take much more work in future, because with each new update FD will make sure of that.

i, personally, can't wait to see remaining 17 ships that will be available until gamma and all new weapons they will throw at us...

Give the man a free paintjob Michael this has to be recongnised...brilliant work.

Oh and OP....I think the number of pips to engines increases the blue sweet spot.

And are you sure of the Jump range on the Lakon 6?

actually not, am too lazy now, but maybe i will buy/sell through all ships by myself as i got enough money for all of em combined just to check jump ranges, i am not convinced that it's 30ly, i guess it's lower than type9 in around 17ly for completely naked type6 ;)

i thought it's clear that more pips to ENG will increase "sweet spot" speed, but that's why you are the judges, let me try to write it clearer there ;)

Thank you very much. I would love to give more than just 1 rep for that.
Excellent job! Most useful, too.
I nominate forger for forumist of the month!

WoW - This looks very professional! Absolutely amazing!

I noticed I am still unclear about so many aspects of the game so I'll definitely read this before I even continue to play.

Excellent piece of work, well worthy of a big fat moderator repping. :D

Writing a description of something as short as possible, and still unambihuous is sometimes very tricky. :)

Increasing pips to ENG does indeed increase the 'sweet spot' speed, but it does not change the fact that the 'sweet spot' sits at 50% throttle.

Fantastic piece of work!

The first thing I looked at was the weapon damages (page 40):-
- Would be very interesting to see how the damage varied by class.
- Are the damage figures shown against shield or hull? It would be interesting to show how the weapons deal damage differently to shields and hulls.

Again! Great work!

ps: Your chart does beg the question what are the points of Pulse, Stealth and Burse lasers when they all seem to behave the same?
